Hi guys, I'm new to weight training and I'm about to start a basic program including weights and cardio, working out at home. I've been doing a lot of reading on fitness, weight training & nutrition and I've seen a lot of different programs, however none of them are quite what I'm looking for - more exercises than I think I need, too frequent, or too many that need equipment I don't have etc.
I'd like some input on my plans so far:
3 x cardio a week (running, cycling, aerobics dvds, swimming, walking)
2 x weight training a week
DAY 1
1. squat
2. calf raises
3. lunges
4. deadlift
5. sit ups
DAY 2
1. chin ups
2. chin ups with arms wider (lats)
3. bench press
4. upright row
5. dips
I have free weights and a basic bench.
Does this sound like a good routine to start with?
Can anyone suggest alternative exercises or point out some better choices?
What do you guys think?
