Davidr- welcome aboard. First, off what is "a while doing weights"? Is that 3months, 1 year, 2years ect. And how old are you what is you calorie intake? In other words we needmore sats in order to help u out.

Personally, I hate training 1body part a week. I usually train my clients 3x a week w/ a full-body training system.

I'm going to do my best to reply. I'm taking my personal trainer exam this thursday so I'm no expert like some of the people on this board.
Are you adding weight? From my understanding once your body adapts to the amount of weight you lift, it doesn't change until you overload it. How many sets are you doing? Are you changing your workouts? What do the 2000 calories consist of?
How am I doing here experts?

What do you mean by better results?

At 5 times a week, I would guess you're doing too much work, especially given the fact that you've adjusted your diet to lose weight.

Generally, you can only lose fat or gain muscle, and which of these you're doing depends on your diet, not your workout.

I don't think there's any harm training the muscle groups twice a week. I don't think you need to devout a whole work out to biceps and triceps. Those are work with other body exercises and probably can be added on at the end of say, your chest day. Try doing that. If you're losing fat, it must mean your body's metabolism is getting faster. Are you doing cardio too?

davidr- 7 months is not a long time. You, may want to change your workouts to 3x a week instead 5-6x a week your still a begginer so you should be growing.

Agreed. This is a case where less is more.

As I said before, you could fit back, abs, on one workout day, then shoulders, and arms on another day and legs, glutes, calves on day three.
