Question

I was reading a thread over at rugged regarding Charle's Poliquin's article about German Volume Training and while there seems to be little dispute that the program works very well, there seem to be a lot of people who dislike Poliquin and his programs. From the thread at rugged I can't figure out why there is so much animosity towards Poliquin. I'm thinking about trying GVT in the next few months, but I'd like to know why so many people hate Poliquin. If someone could shed some light on this I'd appreciate it .

Thanks,

Bobby

Poliquin is a bit of a lightening rod. He's kind of a smart ass and he is a bit arrogant too. Not to say that he's not a really good trainer. I have enjoyed his articles in the past, although now I consider them part of a phase I went through like when I was really into Chek. The GVT isn't bad, but I prefer Waterbury's method or Hartman's autoreg method by FAR!

No one there hates him. They are talking about the origins of GVT and its relationship to other high volume programs. Now some people may have opinions on him as a person, but thats not really what the thread was about. JP stated why people dont like him as a person, but few people at rugged really care about that.

His programs seem solid.

It's the wacky stuff like the fire, wood, earth, metal, water stuff or the Vitamin C IVs in a hyperbaric chamber that make him easy to make fun of.
