Default More Quad Dominance in Women?

"Women tend to be quad dominant." I see that basic phrase a lot. Why is this said to be more prevalent in women than in men? I see it written, but with no explanations.

I do only read it in articles written with women in mind. Maybe both sexes tend to be quad dominant and they just don't go into it in men's articles?

Well?

Just stop reading Women's Health then Roland. You shouldn't be in that section of the magazine rack anyway.

I find that most guys are quad dominant too, but articles for guys in places like Men's Health tend to avoid the phrases "booty blaster".

A greater Q angle of the femur because of a wider pelvis leads to greater internal rotation of the knee, which may cause a tendency to use more quads when doing everyday squat patterns.

i think along the same lines, women have a higher risk of ACL injuries b/c of their weak hamstrings and PC.

How does one really know to be more quad dominant?
If strength on (seated) leg extension/curl is an indication, it was slightly better for hamstrings at the time I was still cycling tons. Lying leg curl was a failure though but I think this had more to do with the poor biomechanics of that machine.
