Default Please recommend a Yoga workout DVD

Please recommend a Yoga workout dvd for me.

I have been doing the yoga workout from P90X and I love it, except I have been doing it for months now and I am very used to it and need a change.

Something a little challenging, not so low impact like I see soem are. I am mid thirties and strong. The P90x one has me sweating buckets by the end and I like that.

I put this in this Injuries/Rehab forum because I have bad back injury and yoga helps me. Please move the thread if another forum is better suited.

Hoping someone can help me

Thanks

PS - I did a search already for yoga/dvd and no good hits

There are many FREE classes on iTunes in the Podcast directory. Look for something that is either Power Yoga or Vinyasa yoga ... maybe even Bikram Yoga (hot yoga).

Not sure what you mean by "low impact" unless you mean "easy."

Yoga for Every Body has w/o's for beginner, intermediate, and advanced in it, further divided into sessions for different time frames and areas of concentrations. I like it b/c whatever mood I'm in, I can find something to suit.

If you're just starting out, I'd suggest taking a few live classes at first so the instructor can correct any issues with the basics. Once past that if DVDs were more your think then go that route.

A good one for a beginner is Kathy Smith's "New Yoga." It is an intermediate level workout but doesn't have any pretzel movements. The instruction and cueing are excellent, and she is .... shall we say "easy on the eye."

Default Other Beachbody Yoga Product

If you liked P90X, you might consider trying one of the other Beachbody Products. The "Yoga Booty Ballet" Exercise routine is supposed to be a burner and a lot of fun. I've talked to a couple of people who have done it and love it. You can find more information about it at the link below. Just select products once you get there.

Personally, hands down, Bryan Kest's Power Yoga. It's a bit old, but I really liked/like it (still pull it out sometimes). I think it now sells as a 3 DVD set for not much more than the original single vhs's sold. Or it's available used, perhaps; check Amazon and ebay.

The first tape/disc is challenging, even if one is a little bit experienced. The second moreso. And the third is really tough. If you buy just a single one, get the second one, and you can easily adapt it/tone it down.

I ended up getting Yoga For Every Body and Bryan Kest's Power Yoga.

I like the Bryan Kest. My favorite is still the yoga workout from p90x, but the Bryan Kest workouts are very good, although still havent attempted the third workout yet.

The Yoga for Every Body I do on days that my body is beaten up, and need something relaxing. The beginner general practice is perfect for those days

Overall I am happy with all. I still have to take a look at the pod casts and also the "Yoga Booty Ballet", but my hands are full with the three I have for now.

Glad you like the Kest. I might just do that one later today for a little extra.
