Tom, it would be great if you could make it. I don't think the KC Symphony will be playing Mahler that weekend, but we can manage.

The Kansas City Symphony program for that weekend is Beethoven Overture to Coriolan, Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1 and Brahms Serenade No. 1. The guest conductor is Grant Llewellyn and the violinist is Baiba Skride.
Dang, Mich, you beat me to it. Here's the concert info:
And... the Summit's in Missouri, not Kansas. Just have to clear that up.

Hmm classical music and beer in the front running on this thread. This bodes well.
Are there limited places for the Summit? If I was going to come, I was wondering if I should book the plane first, or register, since I can't do both at the same time just now.

I would book the plane first because gas prices are so cheap now and the summit later.
Don't worry about registering ASAP if that's the case. I've got your back.

Good to know - and thanks. Speaking of flights, it may be cheaper (and certainly would extend the fun) to come in on Thursday and leave on Monday - would anyone else be doing that?

Yeah, there will be more than a few people do that. You can probably find a roommate for those extra two nights as well to share the cost.

We've been planning on it. So if the flight I have to take this week unexpectedly doesn't dig too deep into the fund, we still should be able to manage it. Maybe. But mostly I'm doin it to see the singing and belly-pokin. I luvz me sum bellypokin.

It's awesome right now. Flights from Charlotte right now are just over $200 per person, and KC is (IIRC) a twenty-hour drive from Charlotte (been ten years since I made that drive) versus about six hours of flight and layover time. Totally worth it.

Sadly the thursday/monday thing does not seem to affect flight prices for me.
I will no more about days and such once I see next years flex schedule. I may have the Friday off anyhow.
I am still nervous about the work situation with the oil prices doing what they are doing.
Thursday/Monday may still be doable

Looking at doing a 10 day trip to orlando with a split in the middle for KC. The internal flight is looking like $175 which is reasonable.
Looking much cheaper to get a package holiday deal than DIY this time.

I heard from Steve-O-68, and he says we're all welcome to visit his gym, a strongman training "dungeon" in the West Bottoms.
It's a bit too far to walk, but we can organize a schedule and car pool for those who want to go.
I predict there will be some cool photos of Cappy on the strongman equipment!

I train in that strongman type facility, please do come on down
Do we get to pull the Hummer?
