In the latest Mens Journal they have a section where they put what they have found to be the top 100 personal trainers in America.

They have some names I recognize such as:

Paul Chek, Mark Vestergen, Juan Carlos Santana, Mike Boyle and some Los Angeles Trainers I recognize.

They breakdown the best personal trainers in each major city.

It was an interesting read but I was dissapointed at the absence of some guys I respect.

PS I know Mens Journal is not the ultimate source
for fitness info but they did have some solid names included.

Just curious: what was their methodology for identifying those folks?

It could be like searching the web: upon first search one get certain big or top level hits. If you go a little deeper, you start to get to the really good stuff.

For instance, I bet MY name wasn't on there.

Yeah, I want to know the methods. A lot of those guys are good trainers but what makes them the best? Is it there ability to market themselves or there ability to train?

Within the strength and conditioning world, it is widely known that the very BEST coaches are often the ones you have never heard of... same applies here.

The method for choosing these names by the way was a matter of emailing in an application form. I don't know if 'winning' was based on how many applications were sent in on your behalf, or just weather or not the application that Men's Journal received was determined to be the 'best one'.

I know this for a fact because a colleague of mine here in Chicago sent in an application form on my behalf (and no... I didn't send it in myself!).

Hope that helps!

I get Men's Journal for free, and always glance at their fitness information, which is never anything good. I don't think Alwyn and everyone else is gonna be exactly dissapointed by this!
