Question

Hey guys - I tried some towel pullups for the first time Saturday and ran into a problem.

What I did was hang two towels over the chinup bar (one towel for each hand) after rolling them up the long way. I grabbed a towel in each hand, about three inches from the chinup bar.

In performing the pullup, I was successful pulling myself up; however, when letting myself back down, my hands slipped down the towel - I wasn't able to do more than one pullup without pausing to re-grip, in other words.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is this the purpose of using the towel? i.e. to work on grip? I was thinking the purpose was to make the stabilizers work a bit harder and work on grip in the sense of using a thicker "handle" than the bar itself.

I'm slipping only because the towel is slippery - any suggestions?

Thanks,

Pete

Make sure you have a rough towel, and if youre still slipping then that means that your grip needs some work.

It might be that using a towel for each hand is causing the grip to be too large. Try using one towel. I throw mine over the I-beam in my basement. Usually, the larger the grip, the harder it is to hold.
