Just wanted to say i'm in Phase 2 of the TAP plan, and am enjoying the routines. I havent been this sore in a long time.

My previous routines were created by me, for me, and had me lifting daily or running daily, but with TAP i'm only lifting 3x a week, and am seeing better results I believe... I've also cut my cardio waaay down, which I think has also attributed to this. (now only 2 miles or so a week, not 6+).

Anyways, my question was to Lou or any other TAP experts. I believe I read somewhere Lou mentioned that he wished TAP was longer - not just a "9" week plan, but more like a 12, but the editors thought that wouldn't be as marketable.

Do you have any suggestions on how we could extend it to the 12 week plan you originally had in mind?

Just curious!

Thanks!
-Mike

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I know there's an Advanced TAP program, thuogh I don't have a link handy.

Also, I'd recommend Homegrown Muscle; there are many on the board who would do the same, but the reason I point it out is that I was in your position pretty much at one point, and after TAP I wanted to move on to a more advanced and structured program, seeing as how I like the results that a certain structure, like TAP, could have. Unfortunately, MH is charging for this now, but I think there are many people around here who will send you the necessary info on this program.

(relevent self-serving request) Can someone also send me the logs/programs for Phase 4 on of the program as well?

I don't think he wished it was longer, just that 9-weeks was a somewhat marketable period of time. 9 weeks doesn't seem too daunting, yet will still give you a good feeling for what you achieve if you keep it up.

If you purchase the hardcover version of TAP, it contains 9 more weeks of workouts. They are far more intense and are designed for the gym, not the home. It doesn't contain gym and home versions of the exercise, only the gym one.

HGM is a great program, if you can find the routines.

Book of Muscle also has a great program in it. I think it's like a year's worth of workouts in the book (can't remember, exactly). Plus, it's a great, great reference book for lifting.

I'd have to agree woth paradigm and lost dog, I felt underwhelmed with TAP and started HGM afterwards and love it. It's a great program and changes often enough to keep it interesting.

The Mens Health website is now charging for it but Jabrony answered one of my posts and infromed me that you can still get the program off the New Zealand mens health website.

Just to clarify what Lost Dog said about getting the "hardcover edition," if you want to get the expanded version of TAP, you must order it from MH. The hardcover version in bookstores is just the 9-week version.

The Advanced TAP workout is an additional nine weeks, in three phases of three weeks each.

I used TAP as my introduction to lifting, and got the expanded version because I thought I'd continue with that. Then I looked at the advanced workout and realized it's pretty far over my head, and (no put intended), the idea of doing an overhead squat scared the hell out of me. I decided I might be better off at a slower pace, so I started BoM with the beginner workout.

I don't know if you're as new to lifting as I was (still am... I'm at nine months now), but I'll tackle the advanced TAP workout when I have a year or so more experience.
