So my daughter is sick, pneumonia, and I was up most of the night with her, still, again... The alarm goes off at 5:15 this morning and I realize I have had about 4 hours sleep. I am actually pretty well awake but then go through the thought process of should I get more rest or should I lift. Remembering eveything I have heard, read and know about growing and getting stronger I opted to rest. What would you have done?
I just figured I was still getting huge from Monday's session.

Yeh was only messin re rest being for wimps, and then I got sidetracked.
better to be rested and perform better as gives muscles longer to recover and repair in between and if not mentaly alert then often not physicaly alert and productive IMO

Rested!!! You need to get your rest right now so you are ready to take care of your kids. Heaven forbid she takes a turn for the worse, you will be prepared.
A great dad is way sexier than the photos I have been seeing!
Rest. The fact that you're wondering (feeling a bit guilty?) implies that you're very diligent (or hooked!) and should take the rest. It's not just any rest; it's lack of sleep and needed at home rest.
Or perhaps an "active rest". Maybe do your usual routine for the day, but with far lighter weights, in the 12-15 rep range for a couple sets, nice and easy just to flush the muscles and focus on form. I've done this in similar situations (3-4 hrs. sleep) and found it better than doing nothing at all and I'm somewhat older than you (13 years, minus 11 days ). This also goes a long way toward eliminating any of that "guilt" factor Chris mentioned that may pop up.
Thanks. Actually things have not changed. The Dr. called the house to check and gave us another antibiotic. They said if by about 4pm her fever has not broken and stayed gone they are admitting her. She has also developed two ear infections along with the pneumonia. It is killing me. I spent about half the day at home already with her.
I really feel bad for her - I know she must be miserable and the rest of the family must be miserable with worry. Hope she turns the corner today and starts getting well.
