Well, I just found out I have mono and should stay out of the gym for the next month so my body can fully recover. Besides going there now I will be in such a weakend state that i don't know if i'd be able to lift anything anyway. Or maybe i'd just need a nap inbetween sets. What should i do to keep from wasting away while sick?

Recover. That's it.

Working out won't do you any good in this state, and may prolong your sickness. If you can eat, then eat a lot and eat clean. That'll prevent as much muscle loss as possible.

But one month won't kill you.

Really, just rest (as much as I know it sucks).

^^^ That's great advice and I totally agree. I think working out would so your body more harm than good. Like RH said, continue eating clean and just rest and get better. Good luck on recovering.

Might I suggest that now that you have this time somewhat opened up during your week read a book in the time you would be at the gym. Something like BOM which explains how the body works and stuff. I mean it would probably keep you motivated...

I had mono last year. Same thing, no gym for a month and a half.

If you do anything strenuous, not only will you not get better, your spleen or kidney (one of the two) could burst. Your glands get severely swollen when you have mono.

Do nothing!!

don't forget to eat fruits and drink lots of fluids. when you're sick your body is dehydrated of needed sugars. fruits take care of that plus they add fiber...which is always great.

and drinking water will replenish any dehydration that might occur. stay away from any caffeinated drinks. apple juice is another great drink to have. and rest and rest some more. if anything read BOM to learn more about working out.

Your not dumb...it's the Book of Muscle by Ian King and Lou Schuler. You can find it at most book stores or amazon.com. Great book IMO.

Well, since i'm not working out for a while I might as well read. Sooo i went and picked up BOM and even got Arnold Schwarzegger(man i'd hate to write that on a paper all the time growning up) book the New Encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding. Looks like some good reading.
