Hello to all. I came across this site doing a search looking for workouts and nutrition advice. I spent a few days just looking around. I found the information to be a bit overwhelming. I consider myself to be somewhat of an educated man, however when it comes to fitness I am just about as dumb as they come. I have spent 7 years training in Tae Kwon Do and have become a great instructor. However even after all those years of training I remain overweight and basically obese. I joined a local gym to work out and become more physically fit. I am not looking into body building just want to tone my body, gain flexibility and basically be able to keep up with the 16 year olds that I teach and spar. This website has a vast amount of information that would take months to sort through. I am looking up to the challenge.

When I enrolled in the gym they performed a physical evaluation. Height 6 ft weight 243 body fat percentage 16%. They ran those fun little computer programs that are accurate for the masses but not for the individuals. It said I was grossly obese and needed to lose about 60 pounds. I found this amazing. I have a large bone mass with very broad shoulders (Measurement unknown) I have never lifted weights before but I find that I have no problem moving or lifting what I want. What I am looking for, and I am sure I will find it, is advice for some stupid to these things like workouts that work best, eating correctly and how to maintain after reaching a goal. I look forward to any advice I receive and thank all those that have put this site together for us to learn from. So that is it for my little rant and rave. Thanks again for this wonderful site, I look forward to explaining my progress to reach my goals.

Welcome!! There're some people here who practice martial arts & doing fitness training at the same time. Alwyn Cosgrove is one of the experts. Another one would be Chriscorreia. I myself learned martial arts for several years too. Anyway, from what i learn from this board, they have this diet program called the Adam Campbell's diet , u can find the link in the Nutrition & diet forum. If u want to lose fat quick, i guess doing Turbulence Training by Craig Ballantyne or Phase 1 of the Homegrown Muscles from MH will do great. Or u can do Alwyn's Big Belly Bbq in MF website.

I appreciate the information. Adam's diet is what really got me to join. I saw it and saw that it is not too hard to follow. You do not need a lot of nutrition education to understand how to follow it. I have already read about 100 pages of information and my brain is on overload. I am looking forward to being able to process all this infor and make it work for me. Thanks again for the advice.
