I just asked a question with that chat with Lou over at mens fitness forum and kind of finally realized what everyone has been trying to freagin tell me about doing what works best for you and your body being adaptive. So I decided to choose to do something totally oppositve of what I have ever done and am doing currently. And continue to do that until I get the size I want. One question though, how long should I keep the same routine, ex: begin a total body routine, should I take it to 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12? Thanks guys, always appreciated. Learning Grasshopper ~ Rev

"So I decided to choose to do something totally oppositve of what I have ever done and am doing currently. And continue to do that until I get the size I want.", that means, continue to change my routines, not stay with the same routine. heh, sorry

I follow Max-OT principles but I'm always changing the exercises I do every few weeks. So although I'm doing the same set/rep ranges I'm hitting the muscles from different angles. That keeps it fresh for me.

If you want to check out Max-OT go to www.ast-ss.com

If you feel like you are plateauing or getting bored, change. But if you keep seeing good gains, stick with it for a couple of months.

Your body adapts to the rep range (and by virtue of the inverse relationship the sets) faster than any other variable.

The reps dictate the sets, rest, tempo and even the exercise.

So I'd suggest changing your rep range every 4-6 weeks. You don't need to change the exercises as often.
