I currenlty have military press in my routine, but find I'm not able to up my weight unless I do a push press.
Which would be best to incorporate in my routine... the military press or push press?? Or does it matter?
What's your routine? Different methods might work better with your program.
If you are doing a 3x8 with 75lbs and increase to 80, do as many military presses as you can, then finish the set with push presses. Over time, try to increase the number of military presses until you no longer have to push press it up there.
You could also switch to lower reps and more sets. 3x8 with 75, down to 4x6 with 80, then work to get back up to sets of 8.
These might conflict with how your routine is laid out, though.
And what exactly is the difference between push press, and a push jerk?
push press= 1 knee bend
push jerk= 2 knee bends. the two knee bends is basically one to get the bar moving, and the second is to dip under the weight and catch it with locked arms.
push press:
jerk:

Thanks, I thought it was something like that.
I've been doing fairy strict OH rpessing, I might switch to some Push Presses or push jerks soon, not sure which one haha, but I guess push jerks, so i can use more weight.
Along with all the tools me mentioned earlier ofcourse
Okay... I get the *feeling* you guys are making fun of my "more weights" statement..... but whatever
50 lbs is difficult for me when doing a military press. If I do the push-press, it's not. (ps.. I'm female, so 50lbs isn't too terrible for someone who weighs 118lbs)

Nah, it's all fun
Have you tried doing DB military presses for awhile? They might get you over that 50lb hump.

yes, but they seem to be more difficult for me and my neck seems to bother me afterwards. I use them on my light vertical day and I feel fine.
More difficult is fine. That's sorta the point. If your neck hurts afterwards it probably means your form is breaking down because you're using too much weight. Try backing the down the weight and keeping strict form and slowly adding weight back as you build back up using the new strict form.
