are the any good variations on these, or articles that will help

You need pull ups plus the 5 you have listed.

There are several good variations of each exercise. Try here first:

Those are great exercises. Check out Rippetoe's Starting Strength routine. I did those for about 5 months and gained 12lb of muscle and lost 10lb of fat. Not bad for a 45 year old. I did the StrongLifts 5x5 routine which is a variant of Rippetoe's. It included dips, pull-ups and chin-ups.

yea but we were talking about the best exercises for a full body, not about what people can do right or wrong. Cleans hit everything, and you don't need to row or even DL with them (maybe rack pulls). Plus, if you do full clean and jerks, you're getting back, shoulders/tris, and a front squat with one movement.

Lat pulldowns will work. If you're close to being able to do 1, try assisted pull ups with bands, or jumping pullups with controlled negatives. There are lots of different protocols that will work and I'm sure everyone has an opinion.

Nice list. I'm on the fence on pullups vs. bent over rows.

Here's what I read years ago as the Top 7 for building muscle:
1. Deadlifts
2. Squats
3. Dips
4. Shoulder Press (Standing)
5. Bent-Over Row
6. Pullups/Chinups
7. Bench Press

4/5/6 I may have gotten the order wrong.

True, you could maybe replace cleans with DB Snatches or better yet a DB Snatch + press. Those are easier to learn and do correctly, hit a lot of the body, and end up being a cardio workout to boot!

The first exercise in the video below are ones I do a lot of... except I touch the ground with the DB's. It really gets the heart rate up and works a lot of muscles. Sometimes I actually "clean" but other times it's just raising the DB's from the ground to over my head. The weight determines the number of reps. Higher weight, lower reps and vice versa.

but you can't do flys and curls unless you have a squat rack!
