Hello there, I'm currently using Adam's diet to attempt to drop down to 183ish lbs. (I'm currently 191ish) My goal is to get to this point in 1.5 months.

While on the diet I also run 3-4 times a week and lift maybe twice a week. My main goal in this first 1.5 months is to lose bodyfat and build endurance/speed. (Need to get my 1.5 mile down to 12 minutes. 2 weeks ago it was at 18, it now resides at about 14 minutes with about 3 minutes of walking needed for me to complete the entire run.

After these 6 weeks of fat loss and endurnace training I have another 6 weeks before I have to ship out for the navy. For my finaly PFT I'll have to run the 1.5 mile in under 12 minutes, do 60 pushups in 2 minutes, and also 100 crunches in 2 minutes.

My question is this, during the last 6 weeks I'm going to be running just as much, but on top of that I'm going to start lifting (for strength, don't care much about size) and working on the abs to get up to those 100 crunches in 2 minutes. I don't care about a six pack.

During these last 6 weeks will Adams Diet still suffice? Or is the diets main goal focused on fat loss, with not enough protein for srength gains?

I'm two weeks into the first 6 weeks and I think I'm off to a great start. It's the last 6 weeks of my program that I'm somewhat worried about.

Any advice of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I can't answer all your questions Matt, but I can tell you that losing 8 pounds on Adam's diet should be no problem in a month and a half. However, follow it exact, and make no exceptions while on the diet. I am on it right now, and I have lost 10 lbs in the last 30 days.

I'm not sure why you would think there isn't enough protein for strength gains on this diet. You eat more protein than anything else.

As for increasing strength, there is plenty of opportunity to do so while on this diet. I have increased my bench while on the diet by 20 lbs.

Good luck in the Navy.

This is true I guess. When I think of bulking/lifting I usually think of piling on the carbs and whey.

One question about Adams Diet though, should I be drinking the carb/protein drink before/during/after my running days as well? Or just on the lifting days...

By the way, I didn't know that the Navy had physical training. Beyond running to the chow line, I've never seen a sailor run.
