This my friends is a discussion. Educated people bouncing ideas off each other. I absorb what you lob over, and put my own education into the mix. Not just opinions...education and experience.
Nah Jimmy is still doing some amusing and stupid shit.
This thread threatened to turn into an Alwyn bash. I'm hoping it does not.
As JP asserted, there are many ways to get it done, but as we begin to learn the truth and not rely so much on anecdotal evidence, the number of correct or efficient ways become fewer and you're likely to see overlap in some ideas.
Here is a question if consumers are substituting price for an inability to judge quality how does the long form infomercial style factor into this. Don't those 2 things contradict since appearance and style are often evaluative criteria as well.
.
I certainly agree with you here.
From my perspective, I would argue that an $80 price tag is not high enough for the product to be 'reassuringly expensive'. I may be wrong, but in terms of the claims in many of these long style ads, I think the price range compliments rather than contradicts the ad style.
I'm not talking about this product, but if I really truly believed I’d make the gains purported in many of these ads, I’d pay a hell of a lot more than $80.

From my perspective, it does nothing or perhaps even makes me turn away. Big, splashy ads for products are like tissue paper in the bra. It's making up for something not there.

How do you judge a product's quality?
IE: If you took away Mike and Alwyn's name from the product, and this was two people who had never heard of, would you be impressed from reading the advertisment?

No. I would seek out reviews and I wouldn't bother until I found some, not just testimonials. Ts can be legally embellished (again, tissue paper in the bra).

That's completely realistic, smart, and fair.
Problem is, you're in the 10-15% of people who do that.
(not your fault, but you're not the average)

There's also the discovery vs. invention idea.
I've got no reason to bash Alwyn. I found him to be a nice enough guy. I'm more interested in the case study.

But it would still be 80$, so you shouldnt need reviews, cos expensive implies quality.
I'm pretty much a lurker but as an average guy with no credentials accept wanting to lose weight and get in shape ( new rules is getting me there ).. here is my take..
If I look at some successful infomercials... I think of the following..
P90 X
Billy Blanks
Chuck Norris with the Total Gym
Tony Little with all his products...
Irregardless of who they were.. they made a ton of money??
But...as far as internet infomercial goes.. Alwyn has now in my opinion put himself in with the rest of group of promise makers... If I as an average bloke.. am.. surfing the net looking for an extremely quick weight loss program.. and didn't know who anyone was.. how the heck would I know that Alwyn's was best and why would I pay 80 bucks when I as an ignorant consumer am just looking for the most promises with the best guarantee for as little money as possible... Call me a smuck but in reality isn't that what most people are looking for?? I've got a secret and I'll reveal it to you for 10 - 80 bucks?? I'm kind of tired of this kind of advertising...
Sorry I may have sounded off a bit.. but I don't get it... I mean honestly I would get the following..
New rules for women... 18.00
Making the cut 11.00
The eat clean diet 12.00
Metabolism Advantage 17.00
TNT Diet 18.00
Your almost at 80 bucks right there...
Again... I have no training but am just presenting what I think the average person thinks..???
Day 4 done. I switched the workouts: I switched today's cardio/intervals with tomorrow's lifting/brief intervals so that I could give my legs one more day of rest. Lifting went well, and I did better in the 3 rounds of 2 min. intervals--legs were a little less sore. Now I have 2 days of cardio in a row coming up.
On Monday, I did my lifting/intervals in the evening. Tuesday I did cardio early in AM and same for yesterday and today's lifting/intervals. Both yesterday and today I was extremely hungry all day. I figure it is due to the intense workouts in the morning. Definite change from the full feeling I had all day Mon. and Tue.

I would add to this that perhaps for a consumer of my generation ( perhaps demographic group would be more appropriate), the use of the long ad, removes any impression of quality that negates the high price as a indicator of quality.
But I am not sure what demographic group this is targeting. I can only say for myself, it means I would not be likely buy a product from there for a number of reasons, one of which is the long ad approach.

Can you be more specific as to why?
I can say from my angle, that it's the internet version of Tony Little, Billy Mays and/or Ron Popeil (depending on your generation). Loud, obnoxious, trying too hard to get and keep my attention.

No, but dont expect to be an Alwyn ass kissing thread either. There will be a variety of opinions, including ones not so favorable.

Thats great, but I wasnt arguing with any of that.

I definitely get a lot hungrier throughout the day when I workout early in the morning. I am really craving junk food, but have not cheated at all. Soreness in legs has finally gone away for the most part, so my workouts should be more intense.
So far, the digital body fat scale says I have lost 1 pound and 1% body fat. Not exactly great results considering the claims of the program and my 100% level of committment so far. I figured there would at least be an initial loss of water early on, but maybe since I had lost 6 pounds in the 2 weeks prior to starting the program explains the slow rate of loss at this point.
I do see some changes in my body--the chest area is getting more defined and the stomach is looking flabbier, which means the appendicular portion of my frame is starting to look really skinny. I have no muscle compared to where I was about 8 years ago. Back then, I weighed about 163, but was fairly muscular. Currently I'm 170 with no muscle, so I m going to hit the weights hard once I cut some of this fat. I'm going to post some of my older pics on my forum journal when I get the chance to help serve as motivation.......
I've gotten used to the hunger but the lack of carbs has really been draining my energy. I'm weighing myself weekly as well as taking measurements. I've also experienced alot of soreness in my legs from the intervals and weight training.
Thanks for the update Trenton.....I have actually had more energy--I believe its due to getting back to a regular exercise routine. I am not as satisfied after eating as I was earlier in the program. I am hungry a lot. And I really want pizza and grilled burgers!!
What is everyone else seeing on the scales so far?

I have lost 3 pounds, 1 inch off my waist and 1 inch off my hips so far. Next week I am moving to a lower meal plan. No hunger or cravings here. My energy levels have been okay. Any fatigue I have had since the third day can be attributed to other things.
The only time I had a "craving" was when I did not prepare something ahead of time like I planned and I didn't want to cook! Pasta has always been my default dinner when the last thing I want to do is cook! So I think that was more of a habit than a craving!

I am starting the WSFL program tommorow. I started out with NROLW then switched to FLI and FLII for more intensity - just wrapped up FLII. I am looking forward to the workouts - they sound cool - espicially the circuits. I have recently been doing BW circuits on my days off from lifting and I really like trying to beat my last record! I am still part of the Womens Challange - so we will see how this program effects my body.
I will post my week one results tomorrow since I started last monday. The workouts are pretty cool. I especially like the strength work before the circuits. The circuits are what you make them though. If you push yourself and work hard they can be very intense, especially 2 10 minute sessions.

This is very true. My goal for next week is to reduce my rest time during the circuits! I am a big cheater so I have to set myself goals for these. "As many as possible" leaves me too much room for cheating. I have grand ideas but at about the 5 minute mark I start allowing myself longer rest times!
Question for those of you doing Warp Speed, Any idea why the high carb days are only Monday and Friday? From reading the book it seems that Wednesday should be a high carb day as well.

I think 3 high carb days would be alot for a low carb low calorie program. Also, that workout day isnt a squat or deadlift so its not as taxing. It looks like its mostly cutting the carbs from your pwo shake.

Sounds like you need a gym partner!!! I go nuts with the people I workout with if I see them let up I clap and egg them on... Remember its such a short amount of time - just give it your all! Its worth it!
I'm doing a similar thing. I set a certain number of rounds I want to accomplish and try to improve upon the number of rounds each workout. I think it helps push myself and keeps me from cheating as well. I would really recommend it since that sort of progression helps push me when I start to get tired.

Thanks, I figured there was a reason I just could not wrap my brain around what that reason might be!
