This my friends is a discussion. Educated people bouncing ideas off each other. I absorb what you lob over, and put my own education into the mix. Not just opinions...education and experience.
I am lovin' you boys! Rock on!

This thread threatened to turn into an Alwyn bash. I'm hoping it does not.
As JP asserted, there are many ways to get it done, but as we begin to learn the truth and not rely so much on anecdotal evidence, the number of correct or efficient ways become fewer and you're likely to see overlap in some ideas.
There's also the discovery vs. invention idea.

I certainly agree with you here.
From my perspective, I would argue that an $80 price tag is not high enough for the product to be 'reassuringly expensive'. I may be wrong, but in terms of the claims in many of these long style ads, I think the price range compliments rather than contradicts the ad style.
I'm not talking about this product, but if I really truly believed I’d make the gains purported in many of these ads, I’d pay a hell of a lot more than $80.

From my perspective, it does nothing or perhaps even makes me turn away. Big, splashy ads for products are like tissue paper in the bra. It's making up for something not there.

How do you judge a product's quality?
IE: If you took away Mike and Alwyn's name from the product, and this was two people who had never heard of, would you be impressed from reading the advertisment?

No. I would seek out reviews and I wouldn't bother until I found some, not just testimonials. Ts can be legally embellished (again, tissue paper in the bra).

That's completely realistic, smart, and fair.
Problem is, you're in the 10-15% of people who do that.
(not your fault, but you're not the average)

I've got no reason to bash Alwyn. I found him to be a nice enough guy. I'm more interested in the case study.

But it would still be 80$, so you shouldnt need reviews, cos expensive implies quality.

I'm pretty much a lurker but as an average guy with no credentials accept wanting to lose weight and get in shape ( new rules is getting me there ).. here is my take..
If I look at some successful infomercials... I think of the following..
P90 X
Billy Blanks
Chuck Norris with the Total Gym
Tony Little with all his products...
Irregardless of who they were.. they made a ton of money??
But...as far as internet infomercial goes.. Alwyn has now in my opinion put himself in with the rest of group of promise makers... If I as an average bloke.. am.. surfing the net looking for an extremely quick weight loss program.. and didn't know who anyone was.. how the heck would I know that Alwyn's was best and why would I pay 80 bucks when I as an ignorant consumer am just looking for the most promises with the best guarantee for as little money as possible... Call me a smuck but in reality isn't that what most people are looking for?? I've got a secret and I'll reveal it to you for 10 - 80 bucks?? I'm kind of tired of this kind of advertising...
Sorry I may have sounded off a bit.. but I don't get it... I mean honestly I would get the following..
New rules for women... 18.00
Making the cut 11.00
The eat clean diet 12.00
Metabolism Advantage 17.00
TNT Diet 18.00
Your almost at 80 bucks right there...
Again... I have no training but am just presenting what I think the average person thinks..???

I don't believe expensive = quality always, but I know that cheap = cheap, no matter what.

Day 4 done. I switched the workouts: I switched today's cardio/intervals with tomorrow's lifting/brief intervals so that I could give my legs one more day of rest. Lifting went well, and I did better in the 3 rounds of 2 min. intervals--legs were a little less sore. Now I have 2 days of cardio in a row coming up.
On Monday, I did my lifting/intervals in the evening. Tuesday I did cardio early in AM and same for yesterday and today's lifting/intervals. Both yesterday and today I was extremely hungry all day. I figure it is due to the intense workouts in the morning. Definite change from the full feeling I had all day Mon. and Tue.

I would add to this that perhaps for a consumer of my generation ( perhaps demographic group would be more appropriate), the use of the long ad, removes any impression of quality that negates the high price as a indicator of quality.
But I am not sure what demographic group this is targeting. I can only say for myself, it means I would not be likely buy a product from there for a number of reasons, one of which is the long ad approach.

Can you be more specific as to why?
I can say from my angle, that it's the internet version of Tony Little, Billy Mays and/or Ron Popeil (depending on your generation). Loud, obnoxious, trying too hard to get and keep my attention.

No, but dont expect to be an Alwyn ass kissing thread either. There will be a variety of opinions, including ones not so favorable.
