Mahler’s Monday Morning Motivator # 51 – Of Landmarks and Friendships
Good Morning, Guys,
Considering that I missed one week during the Christmas holidays. (hey, everyone knows that a week off is good for the Central Nervous System), this makes one full year that I have been doing the Monday Morning Motivator. A Landmark, for sure. I think, if nothing else, it shows that I am persistent. The journey continues.
On Friday, Feb. 4, I finished a journey. I completed week 27 of Book of Muscle Advanced. That makes my journey of 54 weeks (BOM Intermediate & Advanced) one for the record books, or is that workout log. I can’t recommend the book or the workouts enough to anyone who is serious about lifting. The knowledge that I gained from Lou’s clear, no nonsense approach was invaluable. Ian King’s workouts generally kicked the lower part of my posterior chain, but that’s what lifting is all about. For those of you who are floundering and looking for something that will challenge you, pick it up and give it a try. The most telling aspect of any program is results. I won’t go into great detail, but my best lift, the dead lift, went from 230 a year ago to 325 which I did last week for 3 reps. That is a 41% improvement in a year’s time which I think speaks for the effectiveness of the program. Thanks to Lou Schuler and Ian King for the ride.
And now, for something completely different, as Monty Python used to say.
I received this from a friend over the weekend and thought, how appropriate it was to the many friends I have met and know over the internet and on these forums.
Are you tired of all those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, and drip with sweetness, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that really speaks to true friendship:
1. When you are sad - I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.
2. When you are blue - I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile - I will know you finally got laid.
4. When you are scared - I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried - I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be
and to quit whining.
6. When you are confused - I will use little words.
7. When you are sick - Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.
8. When you fall - I will point and laugh at your clumsy a$$.
This is my oath...
I pledge it till the end.
Why, you may ask.
Because you are my friend.
Send this to 10 of your closest friends, then get depressed because you can only think of eight or nine.
Remember: A good friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you hide the bodies. Let me know if I ever need to bring a shovel.
Have a great week my friends.

Mahler....hard to believe, time has passed so quickly.
I always look forward each Monday to your motivator. I have printed off quite a few over the year, and often look back on my favorites.
Thanks for the past year's motivators. I am really looking forward to yet another year's.

Damn, that is just what I thought. Only a true friend can get away with doing that to a friend.

Giving him a swift kick in the ass while he's down can be kind of funny too.

The poetry is not mine but was part of the original article that was sent to me. I would have made it much more flowery. LOL
Here's something off the top of my head:
A friend is someone who is your equal.
He's not a guy who's inferior.
But, when he fu(ks up or he falls.
Laugh like hell and kick him in the posterior.
Mahler
