Default Hours of sleep

I have started to notice a pattern now that I am eating much better, working out etc. I have been waking up almost 6 hours on the dot after going to sleep and feeling wide awake. Usually it is on days I don't need to wake up so I go back to bed anyways because I don't want to get up that early. However, I then usually wake up after another 2-3 hours and I have to drag my ass out of bed and feel like crap (until I get up and moving). Could I be over sleeping, and do you think I should just get up when I wake up naturally after 6 hours and feel fine or should I go back to sleep and still try to get 8-9 while I can?

When do you train in relation to going to bed?

I find that when I train in the afternoon or evening I have a worse night sleep then if I took the day off. Mornings or lunch trainings are usually fine.

On days you can sleep in, just don't set the alarm and wake up naturally. If your body is telling you 6 hours is enough, then 6 hours is enough. Although 7-8 is often cited as normal, it's really more like 6-9 hours. In general, You should get up at the same time every day.

sounds to me like you are oversleeping when you go back to bed. I vote that you get up if your body is wanting it anyway.

Still wake up at the same time even if you go to bed at different times?

Find something better to do with those 2-3 hours The body is a crazy thing. I've gone through stretches of times when I'd function best on 4 hours of sleep. Anything more and I'd be dead. It took me a while to force myself to get used to 6 hours of sleep, which is my norm these days. Gradually, you can try and get used to more sleep if you feel your body needs it to recover, but it's not something that you can change overnight. Listen to your body and do what it says!

I get 7 pretty regularly, but if your body is telling you different (which it is) don't force the issue.

I am sure you guys are right and I should just get up if I naturally wake up and feel awake, but I love sleep . I guess it is time to break that nasty little habit though.

It is weird, if I go to bed and do not set my alarm because I do not need to get up early I end up sleeping 9-10 hours (till around 10am) but if I set my alarm for say, 8am like I have been doing just so I can get into the habit of getting up earlier, I wake up naturally in about 6-7 hours. I am going to start making myself get up when I wake up like that because I definitely don't like that dead feeling I have when I go back to sleep and wake up a few hours later. I also need to find a way to get to bed earlier, and/or fall asleep quicker, I have been having a hard time lately.

Oh and as a side note, when taking ZMA, don't wash it down with green tea. I wasn't paying attention last night and I grabbed the pitcher of cold green tea from the fridge instead of the water and not even thinking washed down the pills with a cup of tea; kept me up till about 3-4am.

Me too Sign. A lot of times in the morning my mind likes to wonder and I just lay in bed for about 15-30 minutes if I am comfortable and just day dream instead of just get up.

What do you guys think about the times we go to bed at night? A lot of times the times can be different depending on what we do that certain night. That can change the time we wake up in the morning (if we don't have to wake up early for class or school or a game or church or whatever)
