Default Reverse hyperextensions and regular hyperextensions

Question is there much difference between the two for a regular healthy athlete? I know Louie created it because of him braking his l5 but i was wondering if you don't have the access to a reverse hyper would a hyperextensions of a Romanian chair do?

Or am i just getting too picky?

I do reverse hypers by putting a large ball (65cm) on a bench, laying on the ball, grabbing the bench, then doing it that way. Wish I had a reverse hyper "machine" or apparatus, but my gym doesn't either.
