Well John, I hope your finger is/gets better, but you're one of the most disciplined individuals I know, so perhaps my well wishing may be a bit...unnecessary?

I am disappointed in not being able to deadlift on Friday, but I think it is important to maintain a sense of humor about the whole thing. It certainly does give a different perspective when you think about all the ability I have developed to do the deadlift and being sidetracked by a cut on my frigging finger.

It's on your frigging finger? Can you take some Cialis for that?

Hey, shit happens. A friends wife poked a steak knife into her hand and partially severed a tendon or two. Sucks, but dead lifting was out of the question. There's no logic. It is what it is. If it's of a nature such that one should not train, then they shouldn't. Toughing it out and having it lead to something permanently debilitating might not be smart (says the man with a couple of permanently debilitating injuries). Sound like you could train, though, so good!

What if you lost a hand?

Interesting to think about.

Just superglue the cut shut, ice the finger that was smashed, and go from there

I also have that thing where the first thing I worry about is "will I be able to train" when I got hit by a car some time ago guess what my main concern was?

Is it too bad to just put a band aid on and tape it like hell and lift? Sometimes when I rip up my hands I actually use straps on some of the more challenging grip exercises like deadlifts and snatch pulls (snatch pulls with an open wound on a finger are not pleasant)
