I have a lot of fitness books. Some of the purchases were more successful than others. These are the ones I'd definitely buy again.

Human Anatomy & Physiology: Marieb (I have the 6th edition)
Starting Strength: Rippetoe & Kilgore
New Rules of Lifting: Schuler & Cosgrove
Strength Training Anatomy: Delavier (I have the 2nd edition)
Journey Into Power: Baptiste (a yoga book)
Game Face: What Does A Female Athlete Look Like: Gottesman (for inspiration)

I've just bought McGill's Low Back Disorders - Evidence Based Prevention and Rehabilitation, but haven't had a chance to sit down and go through it.

Also a couple of D-ring binders where I keep articles I've printed off the web, and a couple of file folders for clippings from magazines.

I was pretty new to all this 3 months ago, when I started doing the Men's Health "Home Grown Muscle" program, so I've been building up a library and doing a lot of reading. Much of the stuff I have has been mentioned numerous times in this and other forums. Here's what I've picked up so far:

Men's Health Better Body Blueprint - Michael Mejia
Starting Strength - Mark Rippetoe & Lon Kilgore

Hey Brian, how did you like Girth Control? I'm thinking of getting this book myself. Sounds interesting to me, I don't really have any nutrition books so I thought this might be the one to get.

Unfortunately, that is the most recent purchase, and I'm just getting started with it, so I don't have a review as yet. I will say, however, that I've read a lot of Alans' posts in the nutrition forum, and looked over his website, and I like the way he communicates.

PMDL is right. Tis is a tough question. A lot depends upon what type of training you are interested in.

Being a strength type guy I will answer with the following.

For Non-Science books that are just great from a training and entertainment standpoint -

Dinosaur Training - Brooks Kubik
Rock, Iron, Steel - Steve Justa
Power by Paul - A few different training manuals by Paul Anderson
Kaz Quest #1 and #2 - Bill Kazmaier

For people who like a more science like approach -

Super Training - Mel Siff (I have every edition. )
Science and Practice of Strength Training -
Vladimir M. Zatsiorsky, William J. Kraemer
Quantum Strength & Power Training - Patrick O'Shea

I am sure the list could be a lot longer. The above are the books I have gone back to over and over again and have been incredibly useful.

That is because Mel Siff died. The book was self published. That made the Super Training books quite valuable.

Super Training is a more complete work than any 3 books on the same topic. (at least that I have read or even heard of )

If you do not have a copy I can assure you that $180 is still well worth the education you will gain over years of reading and re-reading.

I don't know if you've seen my blog or not, but I tried to put up an easy accessible place for people to see product reviews on this sort of stuff that you could browse.

Alan Aragon's book is very good, giving most information in an educational and practical format so you're left with theory that you can actually use.

Lyle McDonald tends to put out excellent products as well. I have everything of his outside of "Flexible Dieting\Ketogenic" and haven't been disappointed by any of them and I disappointed easily.

Infinite Intensity, Athletic Development, and The conditioning handbook were all good.

EFS has it for about $50, I think.

Also....it's quite good, but "technical" doesn't even begin to cover it.

For some perspective, it's hard for me to read, and that's after 8+ years poring over it.

Yeah, it is pretty much the bible of exercise, but it's not very useful for most people after info.

I read it a while ago. It's actually in my local library. The book I found more informative was Science and Practice of Strength Training, Second Edition
By Vladimir M. Zatsiorsky, William J. Kraemer. I actually read the 1st edition but it's a very useful book. It's not a casual read but it really helps you to understand the how and why.
