JPF mentioned in New York Times Magazine article that trashes CrossFit
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/23/ma...r=2&ei=5088&en
Sorry if this has been posted previously - I didn't catch it.
Good mention for JPF and Lou's blog as well.
As for the Crossfit bashing - if you don't like it, don't do it.

Thanks Dave. I feel better knowing that I am superfit and a deep thinker.

That's great. Called it a "deep think" fitness forum.
I love it.

With your web site posted in NY Times, you might want to get something about the summit up quick and dirty for all the new folks who may be looking in. Just a thought.

Hopefully people will figure out that they need to hit the fitness forum link to take there here.

The enemies in the eyes of the CrossFit crowd are “Stairmaster chumps” (who log long, drowsy hours on the machines but huff and puff on actual stairs) and myopic “specialists” — athletes or exercisers who neglect versatility in order to refine one or two skills.
|
i love everyone seems to believe that their form of exercise is far superior to others.
While the article probably will greatly increase JPF's traffic, i don't like how the article was written. It makes it sound like the people who do crossfit have a feeling of superiority above everyone else, because they can swing a kettlebell 100 times.
Heaven forbid if you compete in a sport that you actually, *gasp* train for that sport specifically

I wish I could patent a cerification like that. Maybe a dumbbell certification. I'll make millions.
Back on topic:
I had no idea that clown had some kind of crazy disorder....or that the pic had a name.
It's interesting the author mentioned forums like this one and T-Nation any other search engine optimized site.

We have Crossfitters on here and I don't think they look down on other programs. It's simply what they have chosen. I can outlift some of them. They can do some moves that would send me to the emergency room. It's a matter of choice. The one thing I don't like, that was mentioned in the article, was that you are almost expected to injure yourself, at some point, if you are a Crossfitter. It could be the writer's interpretation of how Crossfit works, but he did make it sound like it's part of Glassman's philosophy. That, pure and simple, is bullshit. I hope that is wrong.
