If you could build the cable machine of your dreams...
Hubby's going to start building me a cable machine pretty soon with a pull-up/chin-up/hanging leg raise/dip station. If you could have the dream combination pulley machine of your dreams, what qualities & features would it have? Things you would avoid?
(He's a genius at building this stuff, I just need to tell him what I specifically want and do not want. With enough bribery, he'll make it happen and it'll be a beautiful contraption.)

I'd have a cable cross, AKA a cable crossover.
This one as a minimum:
Product: FreeMotion Cable Cross
This one if possible:
Product: FreeMotion Dual Cable Cross
But a full cable cross with adjustable height pulleys is ultimate.
Something kind of like this, but they can be designed to multi-station (lat pull, row, etc):

I have a suitable cable unit(two, fixed at hi/low) but the one thing I wish it did was slide up and down so I could have it in the middle for horizontal stuff or resisted walking/jumping stuff ... like Cynic talks about in his comments above.

Ah, that last pic of yours, Cynic, is kind of what I had in mind. Might have to make the dip/hanging leg raise station a separate unit but that's not a problem.
Yep, Julie, fully adjustable is what I want. Hubby's got his work cut out for him with this little honey-do of mine. LOL

My last gym had one the had a lat pull station.
Add a couple foot plates and you have a row station.

Dang! My hubby can weld but is short on time LOL!
I hope he is long on money tee hee!
I thought cable crossovers were passe' where did I get that?
I would have a high low and mid pulley.
He can weld the dips station etc on the sides. That pic looks like it would hold it. Add stuff to the sides if you have the room for the width.
Lucky you for the Honey Do! You are lucky that he will do stuff in the middle of that house project. We built our own home and it's not done, hmm don't know if it ever will be LOL!

No, they aren't passe', but their value is a bit limited for the amount of floor space they take up. There's really on one exercise you can do on it that you can't do on other equipment, but it's a winner.
I'm having trouble finding a pic or video, so I'll try to describe what it is on the freemotion cablecross I've used.
You set one pulley low, the other high.
The low pulley is the one you pull toward you, the high pulley, you push away from you.
It's like a punching move. It's perhaps one of the best overall conditioning exercises I've seen. Equal to a deadlift, but focusing more on the upper body and mid-section.

Thanks, guys! I've got a bunch notes and pics. I just need to stew on it for a bit and see what my mind spits out -- then the full-fledged nagging will begin.
