Okay, the natives are getting restless, (so I have been told through a direct mind link), so I guess now is just as good a time as any to give the low-down on the upcoming summit so people can make early travel arrangements.
The summit will take place on May 30th, 31st, and June 1st.
Our two headliners are Steve Cotter (also the featured blogger for March), and Alan Aragon, notorious dirty culker from the nutrition forum.
I will fill you in on the details as I know them. Web site will be up soon. Don't have a price yet, but it will be similar to past summits.
Only 50 seats will be sold this year.
I already have the hotel next door booked, so transportation will not present the problems it did last year.
Ooo, I hope I get one of the at-large (as opposed to automatic) bids
Of course, then the questions pop up: Car or Harley (need Nashville-ish crash space for the latter)? Anyone along the way need/want a ride (no Harley then)? Would I be a subject of newbie hazing and forced to room with Nick?

Memorial Day weekend, I have to check family plans first.

That's my 40th Birthday weekend ... DH has "something" planned and I've been told to take the weekend off work ... sadly I don't think he's planning to send me to the summit!!

I'd love to, but he's already told me he has something planned ... and he's NOT a planner. For example, he wanted to be in charge of planning our honeymoon, and a month before our wedding he hadn't done ANYTHING!! So the fact that 3 months out he mentioned that he had something planned and I needed to take the weekend off work means something ...

I'm in negotiations with my managers at work. Looking 70/30 against at the mo.
If they'll allow me the time off, or if I leave in the meantime I’ll be there 100%. Money saved and ready to go.

Memorial Day weekend is the preceding weekend, not May 31-June 1st.
That makes me a probable.

I just contracted with LaQuinta Inn and Suites, right across from my building, and they actually gave me our old rate back of $59 per night. Also, you can reserve half a room if you want to split the cost with someone.
Airfare isn't too bad as long as you book your tickets over a month out. Should run you $250 to $300 roundtrip.
Oh, and they provide free transportation from the airport, so there is no need to rent a car or anything. Lunch will be at a really nice healthfood restaurant a block away called "the Starving Artist," and entertainment will -- as usual -- be in the rivermarket entertainment district.
Joe (ODB) is working on post summit activities, like mountain biking, hiking, or paddling. I will direct him to this thread so he can start getting an interest list for activities and figure out what he's going to do.
Nick, of course I'll hold your place. If you didn't register I may just not even have the damn thing!
Nick needs to organize the go-karting this year for sure!

Be afraid. FlyinM will put you into the wall. I just don't want to get caught up in that mess.

JP - you have a tentative schedule? Just trying to figure out if I should plan on traveling Thursday and Monday, or what you had in mind. Thanks!
