Crossfit
What is everyones ideas/experiences on Crossfit program. I have been doing NROL but I am thinking when I am done I want to start another program. My goals are to have it compliment my running and help me gain a little muscle.

Crossfit is very demanding, but it also is also similar to other programs in the respect that you'll get out of it what you put into it....you really have to push yourself to beat set times ect.
I know you posted a question about a push/pull routine a while back..... you could look in "PowerTraining" by Dos Remedios. The book is great and has a ton of variations in trianing to try.

If your goals are focused more around athleticism and not bulking up then CrossFit is a good program to get into. I've been doing it for around 2 months now, NROL before that for a year +. I've increased my numbers on all of my lifts and have learned a lot of different lifts while doing CF.
Check out Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness and familiarize yourself with everything. I would recommend doing a 'Cindy' or 'Helen' type WOD to start with.

Two things:
1. Okay, I'll bite. Let's see the studies where this was tested.
2. When your first posts to this forum are simply links to a pretty superficial website with no credible citations or references, yes, I'm going to question your authenticity (unless there was some moderator pre-approval I'm unaware of).

Barrett, to answer your question, check out Bill's log as it's mostly/all CF material. My own CF experience seemed to focus more on energy system development. Any kind of focused resistance training is going to complement distance running, though distance running will likely hinder any lean mass gains you might be shooting for.

Sorry. working @ 2 different jobs @ the same time. I'll focus on this one for a sec.
iHERCULES training is based on the SAID principle.
http://www.smartsport.info/index.php...d=106&Itemid=1
Specific Adaptation
Bodybuilding.com - Charles Ridgely - Mechanical Model For Analyzing Adaptation To Training.
iHERCULES has taken non-adpative protocols, mixed in cardio elements, and provided it in format that can be adapted to many strength levels, etc.
The program has been running with 10-12 individuals for over 6 months, both genders, ages ranging from early twenites to mid fifties, and various fitness levels.

Oh I did look at the site. What I saw was re-hash being pawned off as magic in order to make some $$$, which is the typical Guru business model in action....only you lose points for poor execution.

Thanks for your $.02 -
MAGIC? Don't know where you went or what you were lookin' at, there's no magic in iHERCULES. Straightforward protocols, laid out everyday, a month at time.
What's missin' is the video hyperlinks for each excerise which will be up this month.
Did you happen to see that the protocols can be viewed on the iPHONE? No more printing, etc. Just Hit the iHERCULES icon on your iPhone & you have your workout. Much more coming.
Did you bother to see that it's provided for an outrageous $5/month? Of course, you'll need another $4.98. Did you miss that we let you try it out for 30 days free? What bastards we are doin' that.
iHERCULES is not for the masses, only a select few. Like the US Special Forces that have been using it for months. Did you also see that any money taken in from the active US military is being 100% donated to the Wounded Warrior Project? Damn, missed that huh? What a ripoff that is. I don't know how I sleep @ night doin' crap like that.
Again, iHERCULES isn't for everyone. Neither is Crossfit or any other workout program. Choice, brother, it's a good thing. Yeah, we hope to turn a FAIR profit. We happen to be American capitalists & last time I checked, running a company wasn't free.
If you don't have what it takes, we understand. I see them everyday on the street and in the gym.

Then there's no real need to give you money for it, is there?

Well, considering that 1) I don't own an iPhone and perhaps more importantly 2) I will never own one, this is hardly relevant to me or 99.9999999999% of people that lift weights.
Especially considering that something like "writing it down on paper" or even something as revolutionary as "remembering it" would be just as effective.
