Thumbs up Determine your body fitness

Hello,

Determine your body fitness = calculating your BMI "In my opinion"

so what is BMI ?
Body Mass Index (BMI) can be used to indicate if you are overweight, obese, underweight or normal. It will, however, overestimate fatness in people who are muscular or atheletic. Because of these problems, this body mass index calculator shows extra statistics to help you be informed and judge your own body compared to others of the same height and age.

How can i determine My BMI ?
you can determine it with easy step with bmi calculator sites like this one >>> body mass index

My BMI is ..... what about it ?
Women tend to believe they look their best at values between 20 to 22 and men are usually satisfied with a BMI of 23 to 25. If your BMI is between 17 to 22, your life expectancy is longer than average. You don't need to lose weight.
If your BMI is between 23 and 25, you are not considered overweight by most people. But if your BMI is 26 or more, that's not good. But you knew that already.

what about BMI world statics ?
See this static

If you have Another information about BMI please supply us with it.
thank you in advance and I hope My first thread here in this great forums contain useful information. and I hope you have good BMI.

LOL.

My BMI of 26(177cms, 82kg) - "You are fat, need dieting and exercise"

It can also return these results, depending on what information you give it:

"You're grossly undernourished, need hospitalization"
"You are grossly obese, consult your physician!"
"Umm... You are obese, want some liposuction?"
"You are starving. Go Find some food!"
"I envy you. Keep it up!!"

So, who else here is fat? obese? undernourished? enviable? haha

Your BMI = 31

"Umm... You are obese, want some liposuction?"

And I've been dieting, too.

FFMI is just (lbm in kg)/(height in meters)^2

In my case I'm 207ish lbs (94.1kg), 5'9 (175cm), and if I'm really lucky right now I'm in the 16-18% range, so let's say 17% BF. LBM = 78.1kg give or take.

So it'd be (78.1kg)/(1.75 * 1.75) = 25.5 FFMI

That is of course depending on my estimate of chunkiness, but it's been fairly consistent for me. It's a bit more useful since body comp is actually taken into account.

There's been some research done to normalize the scores among various populations, including European white-bread like myself, and there's also been an effort to correlate AAS usage by judging the FFMI, since it's apparently uncommon to see any scores above 24-25 in naturals.

Tee hee.

If I'm not mistaken, the concept of BMI was developed by the life insurance companies, as a justification to charge higher rates for obese people. They had to have some sort of guideline to base a higher rate on, so they developed the BMI. It sounds all very scientific, but really is just a ratio of mass to height, not unlike the old charts of "ideal body weight" for a particular height.

If you apply the math and do yor BMI, you may find out that an extremely healthy person has a high BMI, since his body mass is high. But this is misleading. a high body mass (of LEAN body tissue) is NOT the same as a high body mass compossed of a high percentage of fat tissue. You can compare two individuals, each 5'7" of the same weight. Only one person has 10% body fat and the other has 37% body fat. The BMI will be the same....both are unhealthy.

Bottom line is BMI is a worthless concept. IMHO.

Why are we having this discussion, especially one spawned by a drive-by post? BMI has been and continues to be shown as no BFG
