45 degree Leg Press - Keep it or Sell it?
Do any of you folks use the 45 degree leg press much? I have one in my home gym and am thinking of selling it. It's a really nice one that can be used as a hack squat machine as well. It's made by Northern Lights. I rarely use it, but then again, I’ve been sporadic in my lifting. I’ve been hitting it pretty hard for the last several months and am loving life again. NROL has done wonders for me. However, the leg press isn’t used in any of the workouts in NROL. Can you think of a good reason to keep it? When working legs, I’d really prefer to do squats, lunges, step ups, etc.
Your thoughts?

hmm.. I sometimes do some leg press just for some extra quad stimulation (always in addition to squats, lunges, etc). I've also heard one legged leg press can be effective.. However, it's just like it's something you can't do without. Will you be able to get a lot for it?

^ I'm not sure. I thnk I paid about $12-1300 for it a few years ago. Maybe sell it for $600ish? Trouble is, not a lot of people are looking for a $600+ leg press. I wouldn't want to go super low in price since it's not costing anything to stay there. I'd consider trading it for a treadmill or rowing machine though.
I never thought about the one legged presses. Could be a new tool in my workout toolbox. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I've not had a need for one in my home gym for the last year, and I can't see a point in the future where I would need one.
If it were me, I'd try to sell it off or trade it for something else. I'd love to have a rowing machine or a new bench. But you may not need either of these. You could also get a lot of protein for $600.

I can't begin to imagine (okay, maybe I can) the kick-ass home gym I could build for $1200-1300, and not a single piece of it would be a "machine" (well, with the exception of my Concept2 rower). Heck, $500-800 (depending on what you sell the press for) would get you everything you'd need starting from scratch, which I assume you're not.

If you are trying to add mass, imo the leg press can not be beat. I use to squat all the time because I did not have access to a leg press. My legs looked good, but when I joined a commercial gym and started doing leg presses,my legs grew significantly.

I don't use any machines except for the lat pulldown and seated row. If I were you, I would sell it and buy a squat rack with the money.

^ I alread y have a squat rack/power cage, the leg press is just kind of taking up space at the moment.

Sell it. Get rid of it. Bad.

Do you have a pull up bar or cable equipment or would that not be enough space even though you got rid of the leg press machine and got either a pull up bar or/and cable equipment? Just some options here

No reason to keep it. Besides you like doing the GOOD exercises - keep it up!!!!
get rid of the press (I think you will be hard pressed, pardon the pun, to sell it for $600, you will be lucky in think to get $400)
good luck

Thanks guys. It's on Craigslist right now. I have a chin up bar as part of my power cage, but a free standing chin up station might be something to look at. I'd really like to get a treadmill or rowing machine so I can do some cardio at home. (I let me wife have the treadmill as part of our divorce settlement.) I'm becoming more and more interested in some of the rowing machines out there.

I use leg press when I go to the gym, but I probably wouldn't if I had two legs.

sharkattack - I have not sold anything on craiglist before or bought anything from there. Is it more popular than ebay?

craigslist is local - like online classified ads - you meet the person, pay him/her, pick up the items (or whatever arrangement you work out) - it isn't an auction like ebay and it isn't remote where shipping is involved.
