I signed up for personal trainer 2 weeks ago and have seen this guy ONCE. My contract was for twice a week which at this point I see they have already breached it so I should be able to get out.
Anyway, the first scheduled day he had an excuse to reschedule for the next day, but could not due to a birthday. So we scheduled for the day after that and I finally got a session. It was just an evaluation session which is needed but that was the one time so far I had with this guy. Now today I go down for my 2nd session, and I wait there for 10 minutes but no trainer. I finally went to the desk and she told me he called in sick!
I have zero confidence in this guy right now, I chose to take this on because I am serious about a change in my lifestyle and am smart enough to realize I do not have the discipline to do it on my own. But how am I suppose to succeed when I feel I am more disciplined than the one I am counting on to get me to my goals?!
If this happened after a few months of sessions I could do something on my own, but I have not had the first workout with this guy yet and have been signed up for a few weeks.

Read some stuff, count some stuff and make a decision.
Do you want to die young?
Old and sick?
Old, happy, and in the company of a fit chick?
Write your decision somewhere in plain sight along with your reasoning.
Go to gym....

I mentioned in your diet post, not sure if you read it yet, that true motivation has to come from no one but you. If you're not passionate about it, no asshole screaming in your ear to lift harder is gonna keep you going.
You gotta want it...

Either drop him, or see if you can switch to a new trainer.
Talk to his boss. I know that at Golds, if I tried to pull something like that my boss would kick my ass if he found out. Often times its pretty easy to disguise this stuff though, so make sure his superiors know they are losing buisness.

I would most certainly quit, get your money back, and get a new trainer. If a trainer of mine did that to a client I would fire him on the spot. For that matter, the first time he didn't show up I would have a replacement there so you would never even know there was anything wrong. Too bad you're not here in LR... I would show you what it is like to train with a real professional organization.

Thanks for all the input.
I do want it, but I know myself well enough to not trust myself to stick to something I start. This time my marriage is at stake. I need to show my wife I can stick to something for once! I felt this was a great way to help me achieve it. It is something I have always wanted and felt this was a way to insure my success. I just need to get over that hump. I don't expect alot of people to understand in a forum like this. Personal trainers exist for people like me I guess, but I am trying to make a positive change in my life so I eventually have no need for one.
