In our quest to get bigger or smaller or faster or stronger everyone reads alot, or atleast I do. So I was hoping that I could get a thread going of good fitness related reads both books and websites.
recently I've been reading alot of powerlifting and more specifically westside stuff and have been applying it to my own programs so here's a start westside elite fitness(see articles link)
otherwise my shelf is pretty bare apart from fitness mags (MH and MF) and Core Performance.

Two books I just started reading - and so far, so good:
Scrawny to Brawny - Mejia and Berardi. Although I wouldn't exactly classify myself as 'scrawny', the book has a lot of great info for anybody. I've worked with Mejia before at his facility in Long Island, and I really respect his knowledge and his application of it. Berardi - well, we all know that guy! As far as I know, one of the leading names in weight training nutrition.
Gourmet Nutrition - Berardi and our very own Williams (Johnk). I haven't actually tried a recipe from it yet (just bought it and printed it out yesterday from work - yowzas! Took about 45 minutes or so). But so far I love it - I just got my own place so I am looking to do a lot more cooking for myself. It goes into great detail about what it takes to make a kitchen nutritionally sound. Some of the guys here have tried the recipes, so if you poke around the board enough you'll probably find the reviews somewhere.
This might be a bit obvious, but I read Men's Fitness Magazine (only subscription I have). I flip through other mag's all the time at the store, but never find anything I would pay $$$ for.
Make sure you include mag's guys - i'm intrested in what you guys read too.
i just got Core Performance by Mark Verstegen today. I have to finish some homework and then i'll start reading it. I'm really excited to check it out and start the routines. I'll keep you posted on how i like it

You subscribe to MensHealth, but not Men's Fitness?
Why would you drop MF for MH?

Book of Muscle right now
will be getting Gourmet Nutrition (ASAP!!)
T-Nation (does that count)
have
Essentials Strength and Conditioning
Strength Training Anatomy
yeah i'll be getting gourmet nutrition soon, but i just ordered nsca's essential of personal training and am selling essentials of strength and conditioning on amazon
i bought the Frank Sepe book. it was informative (and well written), but i found i couldn't get myself to stick to his routine recommendations for some reason. right now i'm using Steve Zim's "Hot Point Fitness" and i seem to be fine with it, except that the workouts are too long (like, 2.5 hours a day). i don't subscribe to any (i used to LOVE Men's Health wayyyy back when it first came out before it became Men's Re-Hashed Health) but i sometimes go to the bookstore and read American Muscle, Muscle & Fitness, Men's Exercise & Fitness because they are newer and i find the newer ones to be most informative.
Someone recommended "The Abs Diet" to me and also, someone recommended "The Muscle Book" as well.

The more I read, the more I realize I still have a lot to learn. So I try to keep current on different ideas and try different things in my workouts and diet. I'm currently on Book of Muscle Beginner Stage 3. I hope to try John Berardi's Greatest Workout Ever after I finish BOM beginner routine.
And as a point of reference, I started at 270lbs in July 2004. I weighed in this morning at 205.5lbs

It's more basic than most of us here would need, but Stallone's new book, "Sly Moves," looks like a decent alternative to the Abs Diet. At least as far as a book to recommend to a friend interested in improving their body.
I recommend reading virtually EVERYTHING on John Berardi's web site. John Berardi's Web Site Even if you don't buy into every one of his theories and diets, it's great info, all around.
"The Book of Muscle" is a great reference work, even if you don't do the workouts themselves. It's a great book to have around when you want to look at how to do a lift or for slight variations in one of your current lifts.
If you haven't checked out Johnka's site. Do it. Good recipes and articles. You can't go too far wrong, learning from someone who's done so well, himself. Johnka's Site
And, of course Craig Ballantyne's Site. Chock full of solid info, a great newsletter. This guy's programs and advice have helped a ton of folks here. A good read.
I'm not really scrawny yet, but Scrawny to Brawny is a great book. I think it's valuable for those who are already brawny and wanting to get brawnier without gaining a ton of fat in the process.
