"Are you using the bench?"
No, Im supervising the weights.
Twice today I had some clown come ask me "Are you using the bench". Both times I had just got done with a set, was sitting on the bench and drinking a gatorade, bar still fully loaded. So freaking annoying.

Must have been the day for idiots.
I watched a bench for about 10 minutes that was next to the tower I was using. No one went near it. Not even close. When I was ready I headed over and started to warm up. A guy comes up and says "I was working here, didn't you see the water". Sure enough there was a water bottle next back rack support. I apologized for interupting his drinking, handed him his water and went back to benching.

Like really though, what else would I be doing with the bench? "Are you using the bench?" "No Im fucking it, can I have some privacy". What are they expecting me to say.

Seems like they're sticking with it a little longer this year, unfortunately.

They're going for a record although most didn't start until a couple of weeks into January. It is amusing though:
1) the guy with the "Richard Simmons" short and ankle weights
2) the couples in matching track suites
Last week I went in for my treadmill time. Arrived late, was 10 min into my intervals bit when some woman told me that "I was in her spot". I said "ugh, yours" "Yeah, I always use this one" "Sorry, didn't see your name engraved on it". Gave her a look, put my headphones back in.

this reminds me of something that annoys me.
you're gone for 2 min to go fill up your bottle with water, when you come back, some moron has taken your bench/whatever. Now, that would be OK, if it wasn't for the fact that there's a chalk bottle, a bag, a training log and a pen lying on top of the bench/whatever.. I mean.. take a hint!

BAD luck you mean. That just means more waiting while they do curls at the squat rack and take 8 minutes between sets sitting on a bench, then proceed to do dumbell curls, and still manage to swing their back because it's too much weight for them.

If you leave the room, I would consider any piece of equipment fair game.

I don't leave the room. I walk over to this sink and fill my bottle.
So you think if someone goes to the toilet for 1 min to take a piss, then the equipment they used is fair game? that makes no sense at all to me.

If nobody is visibly loitering somewhat near nor is there a towel or waterbottle left on the bench, then I would assume that we had another instance of somebody not putting their weights back when done.
