If you're really going to use vodka or any other hard liquor, then you should not exceed the 5mg does of Ambien. The 10mg tabs would be fine with regular beer, preferably heavy ale or a stout. Since Ambien is absorbed quickly in the GI tract, the additional carbs in beer are needed to slow its absorbtion. You should not take Ambien with wine, since you would be drinking wine as part of a romantic evening with your wife, and you would not want to fall asleep. However, under those circumstances, from what I understand, you personally should take a double dose of Cialis or Levitra.
In either case, because of Ambien's hypnotic effects, your rest time between exercises in your workout should not exceed 60 seconds. Longer rest periods than that will allow the medication to more fully interact with the GABA-BZ receptor complex, resulting in, what is coloquially known as, "spacing out big time."
