I am sorry that I had to delete the thread originally posted by Genius ("great workout today"). Honestly I didn't read the entire thread, but what I did read made me decide that it was easier to delete the entire thing than go through and delete offensive posts.

Please remember that jpfitness.com is a fitness forum that welcomes EVERYONE, and respects everyone for their point of view. Sarcasm can be funny when it is not getting personal and insulting to closely held beliefs. No matter what we discuss on this forum, I must demand that we are vigilent in showing respect to our fellow forumites. We can't help but be different considering how many varied backgrounds we all have. We all have one thing in common though... A passion for fitness. It is the thread (no pun intended) that connects all of us. Let's not lose track of that.

That's why I like your site jp. And why I hang out here more than menshealth anymore.

I simply was expressing a situation that made me happy, and decided to share it (as I believe the Lord would want me to. I understand, JP. You are running an optimistic, and USUALLY motivational website. I'm glad for all the sarcasm and remarks towards my post and religon, because I'll be rewarded for it. I don't understand why anyone would ever want to shoot sarcastic and offensive remarks at what I believe, however. Please do not delete this JP, because I hope the readers of this understand that I did take some offense to the remarks. The question I ask to all of you who decided to make a joke out of my beliefs is...what did I do to you? I'm a college student, volunteer with kids during the week, lifeguard, and coach at a summer camp for children. As you can see, I am a person just as all the rest of you...

By the way JP, I've yet to find a classier individual in the fitness industry than yourself. You're doing a great job with the site and the retreat sounds incredibly unique and inspirational.

Scott,

Don't take it personally. I don't agree with your beliefs, but I respect your right to have them. And honestly, if that's what motivates your workout, then more power to you!

I know you're new, and I hope you've found the rest of your experiences here more pleasurable!

I try to use reason and logic to determin what I think....and it unfortunately gets me a lot of flak. I am admittably rude and could use some work on my delivery of what I think. Logic, reason, etc, does not mix well with emotion and sensitivity. Humans are not logical beings. (Though I wish we were! Them Vulans have it the best I tell ya!)

Anyways....ughhh this is also really hard for me. Im never good at it either. Here goes...

Im sorry for raggin on peoples beliefs, especially in a forum such as this. I apolagize.

*shivers*

Genius never forget we shall be persecuted for his sake. It is how we deal with this that makes us different. God bless.

A couple of points, and I hope serious ones.

First, I deplore the use of personal attacks on message boards. They bring the whole board down, are not useful, and are often offensive. So, props to JP for starting this thread with the admonishment above and for deleting the earlier thread.

Second, anyone who equates what occurred on the eralier thread with "persecution" is trivializing the suffering of actual victims of persecution around the world, such as in the Sudan.

Sticks and stones . . . .

By the way Genius, congrats on breaking through the plateau!! Keep the updates coming!!

I agree re the persecution. The early Christians were persecuted. We Christians today (in the US, at least) are, perhaps, challenged and bothered in various ways. Consequence of living in a free and pluralistic society.

That said, we all should should show courtesy and respect when posting and replying to people. Hopefully, we continue to learn from experience.
