Default Help me get into shape

Hi, I'm doing my army service in a few months and I need some advice on how to prepare. First, let me give you some background on myself, I am 18 years old, 6 feet tall, weigh about 11 stone, I play a lot of sport (soccer and tennis mostly) and consider myself to be in reasonably good shape. I have never really gone to the gym consistantly for a long period of time and this is where I need help. Please could you advise me on what excersises I should do e.g. running, lifting etc and also how long I should do them for and on what level and how I should progress. Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the long post and if my English is poor (it is not my first language).

I have no personal military experience. However, from what I've seen and read, running and body weight exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups are the primary means of military conditioning. I'd work those hard. There have been a lot of posts with this same question on the Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness message boards. You might also consider doing some of the workouts posted there.
