Default Ross Enamait

I've been thinking about getting both of Ross's manuals: "Infinite Intensity" and "Never Gymless". I'll tell you my goals and hopefully you can give me your opinion on this. My goal(s) is/are to get bigger and stronger and more conditioned. Let me get into more detail here, I wanna get bigger 'cuz I'm currently skinny, I've been eating according to PN for a while now but I'm going to need to up my calories, I'll do it as the PN individualization guide says, baby steps. As for getting stronger, I want to get stronger in the gym (pile on 45 lbs. plates for my exercises) and not only that, I want to be stronger in life situations, such as being able to move heavy stuff, hold my ground if a fight ever happens, be able to kick a door down if someone is stuck on the other side. As for getting conditioned, I'm an ex-smoker so my stamina is REALLY bad, I want to be able to run a block without catching my breath everytime. I want to be able to run up the stairs when the lifts are crowding up without coming out panting and gasping for air. I hope that gives a general idea about my goals. Oh...If you want a visual picture of how I mainly want to look, Ross's picture on his website is good , well-muscled, powerful looking, low bodyfat, and just enough veins to make you look...well, amazing . Or, think Sly in Rambo III. Sorry if I bored you to death but I hope I can get a good response. Thanks.

I have all his books from a recent purchase, but I haven't started reading them yet. I have however watched his full throttle conditioning DVD, and it does give you a lot of ideas on what you can do for conditioning. I don't think you will be disappointed.

FYI, none of his programs even use barbells, so the piling on plates thing is not part of his philosophy.

He's about conditioning, strength, and power, but mostly as it relates to fighting. You'll use dbs, sandbags, and bodyweight to get stronger.

It's certainly good, but getting bigger is about eating more as you workout right. There are better ways to just get bigger.

Getting stronger will be accomplished better with strength oriented programs and a good diet, rest, and recovery.

Your conditioning for real life situations can be accomplished with his stuff, but I'll assume that you already know how to fight?

I don't know how you are, physically, starting out. You can do all those things with Ross's stuff. But, it's what you do with it that's going to be the key. You can work a lot of his ideas into your life and other programs, but his workouts are designed to get a fighter stronger and more conditioned in the ways that help a figher to fight.

I have two of his products and love them. I use them for weekend and home workouts, when I can't (or don't want to) get to a gym. They are also extremely motivating and make you feel pretty bad ass. The guy's awesome and I think people should buy his stuff to get the idea of what intensity, dedication, and drive are all about.

Well, thanks for the replies. I know getting bigger is about eating more but I also think that a good training program should be in place, right? From his Hardcore training article I assume that one can build good size using his manuals while eating correctly. As for fighting, I've started a thread about training for fighting and I'm going to be joining a boxing club. Now about getting stronger, being mainly strong in the lifts isn't my main goal, I wanna get stronger all around, punch harder, throw further and faster, kick harder....You know, when you do things at the beach or park that make people go all "oOoOohhh". Wierd explanation but I think you catch my drift. As for conditioning, I think his programs got me covered.

Based on that, you are on the right track.

Check out AllGenetix (posts a log here). He does almost all Ross inspired workouts. He's strong and in great condition, ripped, and looking to get a little bigger nowadays.

I know I go "oOoOohhh" every time I watch a Ross video!

So if you learn to do what he can do, then you'll have it made!
