Any opinions on the best plan to use while cutting. Been lifting since Dec. 03. Did HGM trough phase 7 and then switched to TBT and then did the Waerbury method..

I looked at various rotines in FAQ, and my 1st instinct was to go with RRD 2.0 but I think I would have a hard time doing 4 days in a row with one off day and then doing another 4days ect.
I think a 3 day program would probally work best for me with HIIT 2-3 days a week also. Thought I would try Phase 1 (iron Manual) advanced but doing a quad ss may be hard in the gym I go to.

What do you guys suggest?? Thanks!

IMO the best plan for cutting has nothing to do with lifting. It's about eating clean. Stick to compound movements. Try things like supersets, tri-sets or shorter rest periods to keep your heart rate elevated. Keep mixing up your set/rep scheme.

I agree with southpaw.

RE programs, if you're willing to purchase a program, I'd say Turbulence Training for Fat Loss is a great option. You can buy the program, or get an all-access pass to all of Craig's programs. Money well spent.

If you're looking at routines that fit your criteria, you can pick any HGM routine that looks good in terms of fitting your schedule or your gym situation.

Also, Craig B and some others have had some "cutting" oriented workouts in recent issues Men's Fitness. There are probably some routines posted online at the MF site. Search for Craig Ballantyne, Alwyn Cosgrove, Sean Hyson, Christian Finn, or search for things like "summer" or "beach".

I keep referring back to this article for theory of fat loss.

Hard Body Manifesto Part 1

Hard Body Manifesto Part 2

From there you can chose a program.

I think you can cut on any routine. But, if it's about the quickest results, then a specific, fat loss routine can accellerate things. Here's a sample TT workout from Craig Ballantyne (Sample TT Workout). It's give you an idea of how they go.

By the way, the TT for Fat Loss Special Report (from Craig's site) is pretty much what you asked for: 3 days lifting with HIIT in between. It's a fun program, too. A lot of variety and very effective. Really, check out the Training Log forum to see all the folks following a TT plan!

Cutting is more about channging your diet and cardio program, not necesarily changing your lifting routine. You need to slowly reduce your total caloric intake and increase the amount of cardio you do in order to succesfully cut.

For example, when I was bulking I was eating 3000-3200 calories a day and doing HIIT cardio 1-2x a week. Now that I am cutting, over a period of 3-4 weeks I reduced my caloric intake by about 100-150 calories a week. I also started doing more cardio...2 HIIT session a week and 2 steady rate cardio session a week.

Aim to lose no more then 1 pound a week. This way you know the weight you are losing is fat and not muscle mass.

Hope this helps.

Eat adequate protein, eat at a deficit, and lift heavy weights. The rest is minute details.

Consider either eating at maintenance for a couple of weeks and then go back into cutting. Failing that, refeeds.

I've been doing the Beach Body Phase III workout from Men's Fitness magazine. I really like it, and I've gotten stronger on it. My diet has been shaky, so I haven't cut much fat, but it's always fun to go up on weight each week when you're eating at a calorie deficit. By the way, I think it's the May issue of MF that the workout is in.
