Can you do too many push-ups?
Assuming that your regular training program is balanced in regards to push/pull, would adding an additional 25/50/100 push-ups a day cause any issues?
Full disclosure: I had a torn labrum repaired over a year ago and have rehabbed it back to better than full strength (meaning that it now feels better than the 'good arm'). The intent with the extra push-ups (along with Y/T/W/L, face-pulls, etc.) are to keep it that way. Is this misguided?

I typically do between 50 and 100 a day. Everyday. No issues yet. I am not a T-Nation fan but I believe there was an article a while back about doing just that. Peerhaps you can search there and find it.

So the pushups are to keep the shoulder area healthy?
I don't know enough about you or your fitness program to say yes or no for sure, but it seems fine. Everyday seems excessive, but each to their own.

One set of fifty, each night before bed. My shoulders have never been better.

Progress to 1 arm push ups when regular push ups get easy. When regular push ups are easy, go to decline! after that, go to the next... follow this order... RONJONES.ORG: "Body Weight" Push Ups I was looking for a lot of push up versions and how to build better and I found this at google. Some of these may be easier than others, just go to the version you can do next and so on to ge yourself to one arm push ups. I am almost ready to do decline push ups.

I would think that pushups are the 'safest' horizontal pushing exercise you can do, primarily because they are closed chain. I always do pushups (normal and scapular) after benching. The seem to help my chest loosen up and keep my shoulders feeling good.
I'm not a certified anything, but I would think as long as you don't have any pain you should be able to do as many as you want.

If you are going to give advice on this forum, make sure it is based upon your own knowledge and/or experience, preferably both. A copy and pasted "web link" is what people are looking for when they come for advice here. There are many knowledgeable people here, including highly respected fitness professionals, as well as fitness enthusiasts. The thing that they have in common is that the give advice based upon their studies, knowledge, and experience. When people here give a web link it is because they are confident that the web site offers useful and safe information which is relevant to the thread.
There are many dubious web sties, so please do not clip and paste web advice with the implication that you have evaluated, used and even benefited from the information that you have linked to. If you have some useful information to share we are happy to hear it, but most people here can use google and do not need the "site of the day" thrown at them.
Moreover the tone of your post suggests that you have some level of expertise, knowledge and or experience in this field, which your other posts indicate that you do not have such expertise, knowledge and or experience. We are very welcoming of newcomers, but we will not allow our members (in particular other newcomers) to be mislead by poor posts. Therefore, I caution you to be more circumspect in your posts.

I do 25 in the morning after I wake up and move around some, 25 to 50 around lunch then 25 to 50 before bed. I sort of enjoy doing them for some on reason.
As far as being good for shoulder health, I've never heard that one before.

yeah I do have some experience in some stuff, but not in other stuff. If I don't have experience in something, I will not be able to answer questions on a certain topic; however, if I do and I have done it before, then that would be considered experience. Me myself needs to be careful (like you said) on what kind of advice I give and to make sure its by someone like eric cressey, mike robertson, and any of the other good guys that you guys know of. The link I posted in here on push up variations I found searching it at google and thought it would be a useful link for those who need to advance their push ups. I'll be careful next time and PM one of you asking if its ok to post to make sure I am saying the right things if its by someone that is not really familiar/never been heard of, found at google, etc.

In that case you should refrain from posting on that topic.

You seem to have missed my point on this. If you are not sure, do not post.
It may serve you well to reread my previous post.

okay. I'll only post a response only if I am 100% sure its right. I wish I had good reading comprehension.
So, the push up variations website link I posted are not good variations then? and should I not be doing those myself and is trying to get to one arm push ups bad? the site shows how to do that, so I am wondering if I should delete the link from my favorites if its not right. There is a picture on here in someones avator of herself doing one arm push ups, so I looked up one arm push ups and found the url of all push up variations and how to progress to one arm push ups.
