today I was introduced to a guy at our gym Called "superman". 6"3' guy/ex junior college football player. I swear he looks like dean Cain. I asked if they called him superman because of his looks and he said 'No". however, he never said how he got the name. Then I asked someone else why they called him superman and He yelled out to superman hey "superman'? superman's reply was "what". then the guy yelled is today leg day? superman said, "yes." are you doing lunges yet? superman said I can. so we went over to where superman was and watched him crank out 4x8 lunges with one hundred pound dumbells in each hand. I was thinking I hope you never kick me. I proceeded to watch the rest of this guys work out and let me tell you. he is the strongest guy I have ever been around. hence the name super man.
my question is what other gym feats have yall witnessed in the gym?

Just the other day I saw a guy use 120lb DBs for 45* incline bench press. Good form and good ROM too. Cool to watch that.

its funny i always see guys on the incline with A LOT of weight but 95% of the time theyre wobbling around and their range of motion is about 8 inches. this isnt without the spotter who is struggling to help his friend not get a pair of dumbells on his face

Saw a guy squat out 1x8 at 220kg which is like 480lbs.

The entire gym just stopped and stared. He went deep and just looked beautiful.

I only saw one set although I was told he had done 3x8 before I came in.

Romanian deadlifts with 405LBS for multiple reps and good form. Made it look easy.

Saw a guy do a perfect 5x5 with 585 lbs on the squat. These were full squats too. I also watched him pull over 600 lbs then practice form with 500.

Saw another guy deadlift 625 with no warmup on a 2 inch thick bar.

I have seen more but can't think of specifics.

And that's supposed to impress us?

That won't be me in this lifetime. Then again, that's not what I'm working toward. Then again, I'm never completely sure what I'm working toward. That probably explains a lot of things about my progress.

In my very first gym I saw an obvious body builder using 200lb db's on flat bench. Now mind you that's nothing too big, but to see someone move them so effortlessly. wow. oh yeah, there was a woman(?) spotting him that made most men look tiny. Yeeeikes.

Not a whole lot of crazy strong people at my current gym. I did see this one guy do multiple reps, with good form 315lb military presses.

This is more an age feat. My senior year of High School I had a freshman student in my mentor group. A FRESHMAN. He could already curl 200lbs on a barbell and bench more than 315lbs easily. His pecs were so big that when I took my group out to play wiffle ball he could not put both hands on the bat.

Good god!
Keep in mind he's also 6'5+ and easily 260lbs or more. Basically looks like an NFL lineman. I think he's a longshoreman which would make sense being able to move that much weight around and over your head. He doesn't do the 315 much, usually just the mid 200s for his workout. The one time I saw him load up 315 I stopped to watch and was amazed.

Well, these don't exactly qualify as "gym" feats but I'll share them anyway. A very good friend of mine and I were both competitive gymnasts in high school and coached a bit after college. We began doing circus type acrobatics and stunts once we were no longer involved at the competition level, just for grins. Handstands on slack chains, high wires and cliff edges, hand to hand partner balancing, stuff like that. He was the one who did some pretty impressive things. I once videotaped him pulling an empty school bus about 15 yards while walking on his hands. He also managed to skip rope on his hands 21 times while I and another friend twirled it for him. Finally, he once walked down the equivalent of the Washington Monument steps on his hands in a little over 18 minutes, when the previous record had been just over 28. He's also one of the most humble and gentle guys I've ever known.
