My first question would be, are you fit and do you have a passion for teaching and having a fit lifestyle? This is not exactly something I would recommend to someone as a career if I were a high school guidance counsellor, but if you already have a lot of drive that direction then, as Joseph Campbell would say, follow your bliss.

There is a really good thread about how to weed out bad trainers in the FAQ ( http://forums.jpfitness.com/cgi-bin/...c;f=1;t=000023 ), so go there and see if a career trainer is what you want to be.

Once you have established that, you may well be on your way. Depending on where you are in SoCal, you are pretty close to one of the best the country has to offer in Alwyn Cosgrove. Don't know if he takes on students or interns, but it can't hurt to check him out and email him. His site is www.alwyncosgrove.com.

I'm fit. I don't sit on my butt all day.
I work out almost everyday.
I'm 25, and after helping ppl get started woking out and seeing that they were doing a good job at what i told them
I started to think maybe i should get paid to do this.

Tammy-

What are you doing now? Are you enjoying your career currently? I think this what JP is trying to get at. If you are thinking about making a lot of money as a personal trainer. Thats more the Hollywood mentality of personal training. Most 96% of trainers make enough money just by. But, the main reason we choose this profession is because we love what we do.

So, unless you abousltly hate what you are doing now. I wouldn't recommend making a career change. Maybe just look at getting a simple national cert like ACE or AFFA. And pick up one or two clients and see for yourself if think you can make a career out of it.

Don't think you'll do it in a Health club industry because u won't thats the biggest revolving door amonst personal trainers. Go either corporate, or on your own. ( corporate) though you need more education on fitness.
