Who's up for a fitness challenge?
For years now, I have been lifting on and off, sometimes more off than on. My goal has always been the elusive abs. Being an overweight individual all my life, this goal has always been an impossibility.
Until now.
In 2008, I'm going to see them.
Accountability has always been an issue for me. From what I have seen and read, accountability is a must if you really want to follow through on a goal.
So, with that in mind, I challenge one of you to pit against me in a 6 month fitness challenge, with results being posted here. At the start on 7 Jan, a post will be made containing a photo, BF measurements, and body measurements. At the end of 6 months (7 July), new photos, BF measurements and body measurements will be posted.
All members of the forum will be permitted to vote on who has shown the most dramatic improvement over a 6 month interval.
I am looking for one individual to compete against. Is anyone interested?

Hey Gobbla! So you accept my challenge? If so, we will officially start on 7 Jan 2008 and end on 7 Jul 2008. Please have a post on 7 Jan containing a good quality photo as well as body measurements and BF percentage for use in the final judging/poll to be done by the forum members on 7 July.
So are we both now in "official competition?"

Sounds like a plan to me. Unless you guys have any objections, maybe we can have the competition officially starting on the 7th (as in open registration). Maybe we'll snag a couple more folks getting the new year going.
Not that it matters to anyone but this will be the first time ever that I've done a "get pretty" phase when it'll complete when I'll have my shirt off in public. I'm excited.
Any particular pose for the pictures? Front\back\full body\anatomincal\flexed\flat? Measurement sites?

I'm open to more takers.
As for pose, I think front, back, and sides - full body, all done cold (no post workout pump).
Whaddaya think about shoulders, chest, biceps, waist, thighs and calves for measurement points?

I've been hurt for a while, haven't been around here since late summer! My hand is getting better, but I'm in BAD shape! So, I need a kick in the a$$ to get going again.
If you're open for takers, I'd be interested. I don't want to turn a small contest into a 300 man competition, though, so if it's too many, let me know.
Also, what criteria are we judging? I'll definitely being getting SMALLER, not bigger. Nothing drastic, but I'm hovering around 200, so I can stand to cut quite a bit and start showing some muscle again.
Let me know if there's room!
Mike

Thanks guys. I like all the ideas. Let's officially stat on 7 Jan with whoever wants to join, as long as they post on the 7th, there in.
As for pics, I agree shirtless (scary for me!!!), full body, front, back and sides.
As for measurements, i would say bicep, chest, waist, hip, thigh and calf.
As for judging, on the 7th of Jul we post our initial measurements and pics along with the final measurements and pics. Then we set it up for the forum to judge, in their opinion, the most improved via a forum poll. I suggest that, in the event of a tie, JP cast the final vote. I'm for keeping the judging simple....forum members can decide based on pics and measurements who has shown the most drastic improvment.
Still open to anyone, but lets draw the limit at no more than 10. Are we all in agreement?

Put me down as a maybe. Rem, I'm guessing that you too were born in 1956? How many shirtless old men can the forum stand?

I've debated about this since last night, reading this thread. The very idea of saying "I'm in" scares the hell out of me.
Which is precisely why I think I ought to do it. I really need to see just how much of a transformation I can pull off.
