Default Power Training

I just got Mens Health Power Training in the mail and finished reading over the past two days I took off from the gym after finishing TBT.
I love it! I think I'm really gonna enjoy the workouts.
I know Gobbla wrote a review on it a while back but I just wanted to bring it up again.
I'm staring my first workjout of it tomorrow and I was wondering if anybody else tried this training program out yet? I'm really torn between doing the "hypertrophy" template or the "total fitness" template. My goal is to continue to try and add some more muscle mass, but I'd like to get stronger as well.

I guess I'm just kinda thinkin out loud here, but I was wondering if anybody else has had any experience with Power Training.

"total fitness" is a template for sets/reps and rest periods to follow, just like there is one for Hypertrophy and Strength as well. It's a combination of both.

I'm doing the Total Fitness template. I did the first 3 weeks (took me 5 due to bad bronchitis). I'm starting the next 3 weeks tomorrow w/ a 1 week out-of-town hiatus (plyo and endurance week!) with no gym equipment. Anyway, I really liked the first 3 weeks. It took me about 40 minutes per workout, based around 3x10. The next group will be 3x6,4,3 and maybe 4x6,4,3,2 if I can fit it in my limited schedule.

But, it's pretty good. I like the barbell complex for warmup, and doing an explosive lift first. I also have really enjoyed doing the unilateral work. I have done hardly any for years until now. The core work is pretty nice too. I've been really mixing it up compared to standard crunches, etc.

As for results, so far I've increased my upper-body definition and have increased my strength (and rep endurance since I haven't done 10 reps of anything for a while). So, it's pretty good!

I'm looking forward to the next 3 weeks.

Kmfisher, man that's great! Congrats on your progress. Glad to see you recovered and are back at it.

I really like the program so far. Very nontraditonal training compared to what I am used to as well.
Since I have more free time right now, I picked the 4 day push/pull and stuck with the hypertrphy template. I prioritized muscle gain over my other goals right now b/c I still want to get bigger before summer gets here. I'm also tracking my cals and trying to eat at a surplus, so I stuck with hypertrophy.

Anyway, yeah I love the explosive work at the begining and the core work I was kinda used to b/c I started doing planks and bridges prior to starting this program(just not with all the variations).

I haven't done a push/pull in a long time so I'm really diggin this right now. I was stuck on 3 day full bodies for a while.

As for cardio, do you do any of the cardio strength training for HIIT on your days off? Tomorrow is my day off in the middle of week and I'm wondering if I should take off completely or try one of his cardio sessions. They just look as demanding physically as a regular weight session.
