TNT is one stop shopping. It's got nutrition and lifting plans, all wrapped up in one book.

There are quite a few people on the forum doing this plan with excellent results.

If you want to pick it up at a store, it's usually in the diet and nutrition section.

Basically, you don't turn fat into muscle.
You lose fat and you build muscle, but not from the fat.
Get the diet in order and start lifting.

I'll add to this and say it should be in this order. The diet is ultimately THE most important aspect of body composition control.

Even if you don't exercise, a change to a proper diet will have an effect.

Oh, and you can still be the lovable big guy. You would just be muscular and fit.

Being likable comes from the personality alone. If you were fat and disagreeable, you'd be seen as bitter. If you were fit and friendly, people will view you as confidant (and it's likely you will be more confidant). It's all in the personality.

I still have a few questions so I think this forum and some books could be the answers.

It sounds like you could have powerlifter potential.

welcome to the boards!

Have a look at the some of the free routines you can get here:

Training Routines

Since you are just getting started, I would not worry too much about which routine because you will get results from any of them. I would focus my energy on diet (not to be confused with dieting). If you have never tracked your diet you may find it useful to use a calorie counter. Most people underestimate their calories. Also most (or at least many ) overestimate the size of a scoop, a teaspoon etc. so be careful with your portions.

2ndly I would focus on working out regularly, rather than trying to get it all done in the first month. Take it slow at a pace you can manage both physically and in terms of lifestyle so you can make it part of your lifestyle routine.

There are lots of people here who will be happy to help answer your questions and offer encouragement, so stick around.

Peter

Good luck with your fitness goals and welcome to the forum. Take it slow and develop new healthy habits you can sustain for the long run. Anyone who only loves you for being a "big guy" isn't your friend anyway. Become a lovable fit guy who won't have joint problems, hypertension, heart disease and type II diabetes in the future.
