Supplement Questions
Hello boys and girls,
I'm about to just throw some questions out there straight from my brain - some things I've been wondering about. I will try and run them through some kind of filter in the hopes that they will make sense, but I make no promises. I appreciate any feedback you provide.
- First up, Fish Oil. I remember reading somewhere (Roussell perhaps?) about freezing fish oil pills to eliminate most of the fishy aftertaste. Does this in any way affect the effectiveness of the fish oil?
- Greens+. My diet as of late SUCKS. Majorly. I'm determined to clean things up and a big thing is getting more fruits and veggies. With that said, I'm looking to pick up some Greens+ to make sure I get what I need. My question is to ask your opinions as to: Where's the best place to buy the stuff? Which flavor? Any other pertinent recommendations. Thanks
- Creatine. Take it? Yes or no? I've never really considered it in the past, but I'm determined as anything to make this the best year possible for my physical well being and for baseball. Opinions?
- Something like Biotest's Spike or NO-Explode. I don't really like the idea of relying on this stuff, but every once in a while, I think it might come in handy. Sometimes I'll load up a cup of coffee with some sugar and chug it and it works out.
That's it for now. Thanks guys for any input!

Nope. Freeze away. But, unless you eat them straight from the freezer, you're back to square one. I don't get the fishy aftertaste. Of course, I don't chew them, either.

If you're goal is the all the good stuff in the vegetables, then skip this stuff. If your goal is some sort of acid/base balance in your diet, then drink up.

yes. There's no downside, really. Good for mental and physical well being and maybe a little extra strength. Cheap, too.

If you need the boost, coffee is cheaper and tasty as shit. Some people do like what Spike does. Or, there's Spike Shooters. Mostly, they are just another energy drink, only extra caffeine-y. Like 3-4 cups of Joe.
NO-Explode? N.O. Nope. Useless.

I take it every day and don't have any fish oil taste. Just make sure to eat something with it (which you should be doing anyways) and you should be fine. I've seen some fish oils with lemon juice injected in the pill too...can help to get rid of the fish taste.

I take this too. Not a full suggested serving, but 4 pills in the morning with breakfast. Does it work? I dunno. I do feel better on the days I take some. I buy mine at the vitamin shop in pill form.

Take it! Just drink lots of water. At this point, if you look at the research, there is no reason to avoid creatine. It basically does a body good!

While coffee will get me going, Spike does work as advertised for me. It's probably the closest I've felt to the original Ripped Fuel since they took that off the market. I haven't taken any in months mainly b/c I've been doing really well at getting my 8 hours of sleep each night. If I do need a boost, I like it much better than red bull or any of the drinks as they tend to give me a stomach ache.

what LD said.
supplements are supplements. I would just stick with the creatine, and maybe fish oils.

Brah, creatine is nothing like steroids, I think you need to do some research on the two because I am not going to waste my time explaining how far off in left field you are.

Thanks guys!
On the topic of creatine then, I'm pretty much clueless. Are there different kinds out there? How much to take? How often? When in the day is the best time to take it? Or does that even matter?
I appreciate all your insights!

Brian. I'm 99.9% sure PA is kidding. If he's not, then I'll fly down to Florida and smack him for you and me both!

I just get the cheapest, pure creatine I can find. I've read some people digest the mirconized or other mixes of creatine better, but I've never had any problems. The current 'best' way to take it is to simply go with 5g/day mixed in with something sweet (OJ, powder gatoraide, PWO, etc...) which is what I've been doing for a long time.

Just get micronized creatine or creatine monohydrate. Nothing fancy. Nothing mixed in with some carb drink, either. Just creatine.
5g a day. On workout days, stick it in your workout drink. On non-workout days, stick it in your coffee or tea or stir it into oatmeal or something.

Spend your money on steak.
green plus = scam, eat green things.
fish oil = eat fish
creatine = does nothing significant
caffeine loaded supplements = just take straight caffeine for 1/100th the cost.
Ive tried everything you have mentioned above and none of it makes any difference compared to having a good diet and great training.
