Mahler’s Monday Morning Motivator # 187 – Squat
Mahler’s Monday Morning Motivator # 187 – Squat
Squat
All of us who train or workout, know that in our nutrition plans there is that special meal known as the cheat meal. It’s that one day when you throw the rules out and you eat anything you want. Well, I had a very busy weekend and I was thinking that the cheat concept could actually work for the Motivator. So I went back into the archives of my compositions and found a little poem I wrote. It actually is training related, so is not really a total cheat, but as you can see, this is an oldie. I hope you enjoy.
Get Down and Do a Squat
You want to build some muscle, man, in places where it’s not.
Then put a bar across your back, get down and do a squat.
You want to make your body firm, where once there was a pot;
Then bend those knees, no grunting please, get down and do a squat.
You want to make those muscles ache, yes make them sore a lot;
Then put some plates upon that bar, get down and do a squat.
You want to make those muscles grow, and give it all you’ve got;
Then add some forty-fives to that, get down and do a squat.
You want to be more than a couch potato with the rot,
Get down, my friend, then up again, then do another squat.
You want to walk the beach with pride, sometimes hear that you’re hot,
You got it man; here is the plan; get down and do a squat.

Well it's not Robert Frost but better than I could do. Thanks John.
Hopefully it was an enjoyable and busy weekend.

Yeah, not Robert Frost, but then again, Robert Frost probably never did a Squat.
The weekend was super. Spent both days at the closing weekend of the PA Renaissance Faire. A lot of fun. Good times. Much laughter.

Nice little poem. Thanks, John.
(And everyone will hate me for saying this, but you could sing it to the tune of "Yellow Rose of Texas." )

or like other things of that meter ... if you prefer ...
The House of the Rising Sun
Happy Wanderer (you might need to add a chorus "parallel, a-to-grass ...")
Amazing Grace
--- I liked it John - you deserve the "cheat" ---

Maybe your message was too Masked by the verse. Plus it had some stiff competition in the entertainment factor with 2 threads dealing with lower body hygiene.

I know, somehow iambic hexameter cannot compete with shaving your balls and smelly crotches.
