Okay, I keep reading the statement...Less is More.

While I agree that lifting 6 times a week is overkill, why wouldn't we just lift once a week and do full body if less really did equal more gains? I have to think a balance would be a better approach so what is that balance?

1 massive workout 1 time a week, 110% intensity?
2 Workouts a week spliting the body up?
3 Day splits?
4 Day splits?
5-6 day BodyBuilder type workouts?

Less can't always equal more or the couch potato would look like Arnold...

Its more of a catch phrase than anything else. Obviously like you said if less always equalled more lazy people would be huge. The less is more thing is just a response to the typical bodybuilder 6 day split, not to all training. You need to balance the load placed on the CNS and muscles with adequite protein synthesis and hormone stimulation. Which is why most people lift 3-4 times per week. I have done two and made gains but they come slower than with three or four days.

So would you recomment I stick with a 3 day split, or bump up to 4 days if time is not an issue? I would like to ramp my intensity up and keep it to 1-1.5 hour sessions.

I personally like four days a week, I just think its easier to organize a good split that way and it allows for more workout without burnout.
