I've been lifting for a little while now and recently went to creatine. Ive been following the loading cycles, loading myself up on water, taking my protien shakes and most importantly, GETTING THE SHITS REALLY BAD!!! is this normal??
Secondly, as Ive posted before, and I will post again, my bicepts are still ridiculously uneven, someone PLEASE HELP ME
It might be the brand. I have heard that can cause problems and have also heard people talking about the loading cycle giving them the shits. Drop down to 5 grams a day and if it doesn't go away try a different brand. Still no luck just drop the creatine.
With the biceps, first make sure you are doing only unilateral exercies for the biceps and back. If one of the muscles that supports the scapula on the small side is weak then that could cause the bicep not to grow. If you have been doing this for a while with no success then try using a small amount more volume for the smaller side or drop the volume on the stronger side depending on the total volume already.

jrelder,
i had the same problem with creatine, it gave may ridiculous diareah. i tried 2 brands (including gnc) unfortuneately, my body just doesn't mix well with creatine, and it sounds like you might be in a similar boat. however, i have no problem taking a whey protein drink every morning. i would try just the protein drinks and see if that clears up the problem. good luck.
I heard the loading phase was bs, just for the retailer to make more money, 5 grms a day is good. I have a question, I heard you gain weight on creatine. I ve been taking it for a couple of weeks, without gaining any. This week I gained like three pounds, does it usually take a couple of weeks to kick in?
I also took creatine around a year ago when I was looking for big muscle fast muscle,(im only 19 so obviously i want it quick)and the consensus seems to be just that...People take the creatine to get quick results(usually gain weight, muscle)and what happens is you gain a lotttt of water weight...However the creatine definetley aids in energy sysnthesis and all that...When I took it I was able to lift more whether it be psychological or physiological....Also there seem to be side effects for many people..I do had the runs quite often wit the supplement....There is no doubt that your excretory system responds to increases in creatine...In my opinion real, nice looking, strong muscle comes only from hard work..Dont forget meat and other products actually do have low leverls of creatine so there are always ways around supplements...I think that you should lay off it if you are having bad side effects....instead give yourself time to build the muscle...Anyway most people eventually stop taking it and end up losing the results since there body cant train the same without the supplement.

I'm not sure what it was in a blend of protein that had glutamine and creatine in it but it made my face break out when I usually have a good complexion. Anyways the loading cycle of creatine is BS, even five grams a day according to some studies is a waste. From empirical evidence and from suggestions from others I would recommend getting in 3-5 grams and spacing it out over a day. When I do a cycle I do 1/4th of a teaspoon three times a day to equal three grams.
You do gain weight when you start, but you won't continue to gain. It's a one time deal as your muscles absorb extra water. You don't look puffy or anything, either.
As to breaking out. I think it was coincidence caused by something else.
As to the runs. The better it gets dissolved, the less likely they will occur. If you have trouble, try finding a brand that dissolves better. Johnka has a good one on his web site that dissolves well. Still an issue. Try it in warm water, coffee, or tea. That will disolve it just fine... Heck, I just put the powder in my mouth and wash it down with a lot of water on most days. No runs for me.
I got both the acne and the runs... it's normal and will go away (the runs at least) when your body adapts to it. At least it did for me, your mileage may vary.
I am satisfied with user kinney1 and I facing the similar problem with creatine, it provides may ridiculous diareah and i attempted 2 brands but unluckily, body just doesn't mix healthy with creatine, and it sounds like you might be in a similar boat. However, i have no problem taking a whey protein drink every morning. i would try just the protein drinks and see if that clears up the problem.

Praline: Never mind that my lad, I wish to complain about this thread that I started not four years ago from this very place.
Shopkeeper: Oh yes, the creatine thread. What's wrong with it?
Praline: I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It's dead, that's what's wrong with it.
Shopkeeper: No, no it's resting, look!
Praline: Look my lad, I know a dead thread when I see one and I'm looking at one right now.
Shopkeeper: No, no sir, it's not dead. It's resting.
Praline: Resting?
Shopkeeper: Yeah, remarkable thread the creatine, beautiful discussion, isn't it?
Praline: The discussion don't enter into it : it's stone dead.
Shopkeeper: No, no : it's just resting.
.
.
.
Shopkeeper: (jogging cage) There it moved.
Praline: No he didn't. That was you pushing the sub-forum.
Shopkeeper: I did not.
Praline: Yes, you did. (takes thread out of context, shouts) Hello Polly, Polly (bangs it against counter) Polly thread, wake up. Polly. (throws it in the air and lets it fall to the floor) Now that's what I call a dead thread.
Shopkeeper: No, no it's stunned.
Praline: Look my lad, I've had just about enough of this. That thread is definitely deceased. And when I bought it not four years hour ago, you assured me that its lack of movement was due to it being tired and shagged out after a long squawk.
Shopkeeper: It's probably pining for the fjords.
Praline: Pining for the fjords, what kind of talk is that? Look, why did it fall flat on its back the moment I got it home?
Shopkeeper: The powerbag thread prefers sleeping on its back. Beautiful thread, lovely discussion.
Praline: Look, I took the liberty of examining that thread, and I discovered that the only reason that it had been sitting in its position in the first place was that it had been nailed there.
Shopkeeper: Well of course it was nailed there. Otherwise it would muscle up to the front page and voom!
Praline: Look matey (picks up thread) this thread wouldn't voom if I put four thousand volts through it. It's bleeding demised.
Shopkeeper: It's not, it's pining.
Praline: It's not pining, it's passed on. This thread is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late thread. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-thread.
Shopkeeper: Well, I'd better replace it then.
Praline: (to camera) If you want to get anything done in this country you've got to complain till you're blue in the mouth.
Shopkeeper: Sorry guv, we're right out of threads.
Praline: I see. I see. I get the picture.
Shopkeeper: I've got a poll.
Praline: Does it talk?
Shopkeeper: Not really, no.
Praline: Well, it's scarcely a replacement, then is it?
Shopkeeper: Listen, I'll tell you what, (handing over a card) tell you what, if you go to my brother's pet shop in Bolton he'll replace your thread for you.
Praline: Bolton eh?
Shopkeeper: Yeah.
Praline: All right, then. He leaves, holding the thread.
