Default AM/PM Split

For the past few weeks, I've tried switching from a more tradional 3-day split to full body workouts three times a week. If I were to work upper in the morning then lower in the late afternoon, would that still be considered a full body workout or a split workout?

pretty sure that would be considered an upper lower split, even though you work your entire body in one day. Is there a reason for this? An FBW shouldn't take more than about an hour. So I dont quite see why you need to split it up into two like 30 min sessions a day.

Don't worry about what it is called if you like it and are getting results.

Thanks Lisa and Rookie. I work out very early in the morning (5 am). I find a five minute warm-up works fine for upper body, but I seem to need much more time to loosen up my legs and lower back. Doing squats and deadlifts at time just does not feel comfortable. That's why I started doing lower body later in the afternoon, and so far it has worked out fine.

Interesting plan. Glad it is working. I also work out at 5am. I save my leg work for later in the routine so I am more warmed up.

try lighter work in the morning less than 70-80% of your maximums then later in the day go heavier you may be surprise at how good you feel.

Could this problem have anything to do with the spinal fluid build up that accumulates during the night? I found the same to be true of myself and lower body work - I now workout in the late PM and find it is much better

I love am/pm splits.

Like you, I work out for a total of an hour or so three or four days per week. Breaking that hour up into two sessions keeps me a LOT more fresh.

Plus, as I ramp up in intensity and/or volume, I can stretch my sessions to 40-45 minutes pretty easily without the same ill effects on my body and schedule as stretching a one hour workout into a 90 minute workout.
