I was wondering if anyone has experience with developing a training plan for distance sports. As many of you know, I'm an adventure racer. I would like to step up my performance. I have experience with training programs for swimming but the longest swim that I've competed in is a 1500 meter. The races I do now are up to 100 miles long with canoeing, mountain biking and trail hiking/running. Any help would be appreciated.

Joe

There is a forum here on Multi-Sport Racing under the Outdoor Fun header...

Yeah, ODB is the mod for that forum.

ODB - I'm sure you know of Endurance Radio, and they have some links on their site that might be of help:

I know a lot of the trainers they have been interviewing have linked up w/ ER and have their links and workouts posted. I'm sure it's more tri-specific, but it's worth a look....

Oops,

I just looked at that forum and noticed that. Sorry about that ODB! I have a buddy at work that does ultra marathons, or at least he used to, to see if he has any info on training...

Yeah, I've checked it out some. Most of the workouts I find are very specific. I guess I'm looking for a more long term training schedule that would incorporate several training programs. One of the problems is that there are so many programs out there that it gets confusing trying to put it all together.

Oh, and Three, Do you do any multi-sport stuff? The USARA championships were in French Lick last year.

ODB,

I'm thinking about trying a sprint triathalon this summer. I'm getting the running and some cycling going and if that goes well I will get some lap swimming in and give it a shot.
