I don't think I've ever seen someone lose their grip at that point in a press.

I believe a suicide grip = thumbless grip - the thumb is on the same side of the bar as the fingers.

Yep,

Now that I look at that vid again on a better pc, im not positive hes even using it..

This same thing has happend when I was spotting some kid using this grip before. Lucky it was only 135lbs and I was ready.

That's the experience you get using a false grip, so those using it should revel in their risky, competitive manliness and see how many inches of clearly defined bar rash and imprinted knurl they can measure on their flesh.
