split squat?
Hi,
Is Split Squat another name for Static Lung?
I'm doing BoM and I do static lung by keeping my forward leg in its place and moving up and down in-place. It hurts! Can I do static lung by returning my forward leg near the left and forward again?
Regards,
Maher

How can someone do a static lunge when you have to step and produce a forward movement? They are not the same exercise.

Thanks guys for the clarification. The pain is normal and is due to years of inactivitiy. I shall maintain the forward leg position for the whole set then.

Maher
P.S. Man! The first few weeks are supposed to fix imbalance. I can only imagine what's ahead.

My thoughts as well. It then becomes a dynamic lunge.

Actually, rethinking about it, you guys are right. Lunging implies moving.
What imbalances are you dealing with on your initial training phase???

That's the stated objective of the program (left weaker than right, etc.)
BTW, I just finished the first three weeks and made some progress, although I assumed I will not.
I received the NROL book yesterday and started reading it.
One major change to my workout (although I'm using BOM not NROL) is to stop running for 45 min on the four days I'm not lifting. I'll either do running after lifting or don't. I'll rest for four days to maintain strength and muscle as suggested by the book.
Regards and thanks for your help.

For the record, your name looks like an exotic spin-off of Mahler's. It's like the internet forum verion of a tribute band, or something.
Carry on.

I don't know this Mahler dude, but based on his contribution to the forum, he seems worthy of tribute!

It all depends on your definition. You can say a static lunge means you don't move, it is static, up and down and don't move. I have read that some people call a regular lunge a static lunge. To me, a static is just up and down like a split squat. If it was a forward or reverse lunge then you move forward or backwards and if you walk with it, a walking lunge.
